What other subjects would you like to see History Channel do?

Personally, I would like to see a mini-series about the fight between Edison and Tesla.

I would totally watch that. Both over-the-top, fascinating characters--it practically writes itself.

2013 - The History Channel will show the mini-series The Vikings. That oughta be a hooter.... Especially when they get to the "new world" first. It's in production now in Europe.

I'd like to see a miniseries that's a combination of "North & South" & Ken Burns's excellent documentary on the civil war. Basically they need the look & emotional investments that "North & South" brought but they need to use the real life drama that Burns focused upon (And which "Hatfields & McCoys" utilizes fairly well).

Or I think that a definitive mini series focusing upon George Armstrong Custer would be an excellent idea as well. He has always been of interest to me & in my mind the definitive biopic has yet to be made about him although "Son of the Morning Star" came close. I don't know if they'd be able to land actors of this caliber or not at the History Channel but I could see either Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio as excellent contenders for the part of the controversial Custer.

If the history channel does another mini series the vain of the Hatfields and McCoys it will have to involve American history. You can't expect them to cover the history of Canada or Sweden.

I think there's a lot of world history that would be really interesting - I think it would be really interesting to do the Battle of Stalingrad from alternating perspectives (the Germans, the Russian soldiers and the civilians caught in the middle).

However, as the other poster said, any miniseries is more likely to focus on US history. I believe "The History Channel" is more focused on American history (and crap reality shows about Americans buying and selling old junk and living in swamps) and "History International" is more focused on international history. But this division might be a little less clean-cut since History International changed its name to H2.

Why American history?

It's sort of the root of the History Channel, if not always its direction (e.g., the infamous Hitler years). it's American-based, though internationally operated. The phone number that they used to have in use (don't know if they still do) ended in -1776, even.

Obviously, its roots don't dictate its current programming trend of speculative nonsense and pseudo-reality shows, which we all seem to agree is deplorable.

PBS is way too political (left-leaning). Their online series about the Detroit Riots in 1967 was so propaganda-filled, it was ridiculous.

One example is that the (White) police didn't just bust up a BBQ for a returning (Black) Vietnam soldier. It was held at an illegal bar (blind pig) and they were closing the place down; the party just happened to be there. The celebrants wouldn't leave, and when the police tried to arrest them, they started burning the place, and eventually burning the whole neighborhood down.

Also, the rioters burned down EVERY business along 12th Street, whether white or black. Black shop owners would stand in the doorway and plead with the rioters not to burn their business down, trying to show that they were black, too. But the rioters didn't care. They wanted them gone, too, and they succeeded. Hence, the Detroit you have today. My beautiful hometown turned to crap.

How do I know this? I lived through it. I was 14 years old.

At least the History Channel doesn't get into propaganda; changing the facts to make a better story is different that trying to manipulate people towards a political aim. Boo, PBS..YAY, History Channel!

Andrew Jackson and the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812.

Aaron Burr his duel with Alexander Hamilton and his quest for empire.

Frank: Just a man.
Harmonica: An ancient race.

Edison and Tesla would be good. I'd like to see one about the life of Teddy Roosevelt. He had a fascinating life and really was a bridge between the 19th and 20th century's. His policies in great measure created the United States we know today. His impact on American history can't be overstated and it's a crime that his story hasn't been told properly on film. There have been films about aspect of his life, including one starring Tom Beringer playing Teddy when he led the Rough Riders. But to my knowledge there hasn't been one that chronicles his entire life.

Wright Brothers

I would love to see one about the life of Teddy Rossevelt. He's one of the most underated presidents of all time.

Wright Brothers would be good too, but that might fit better in a two hour movie verses a mini-series. The life of Howard Hughes might work better as a mini-series than a movie. It's hard to fit a someones whole life into a 2-3 hour movie, especially if they had a very eventful life like Roosevelt and Hughes.

Whatever they pick, I hope they stick to the facts. The Hatfields and McCoys always felt like they were trying to balanced between some of the facts and keeping both the families happy with the the protrayal. Maybe after the controversy of The Kennedy's they didn't want anyone to complain.

I would like to see a mini series done about the Lincoln County Wars located in New Mexico territory. And not the Hollywood nonsense like the movie "young guns".

The Jesse Evans Gang vs the Regulators! Awesome!

I'd also like to see a mini-series about WWI. They never talk about that war. It's always WWII, Revolution or Civil War.

How about a mini-series about Benjamin Franklin?
Or the WAR OF 1812 and the Battle of New Orleans. Lots of rich subject matter here.
