Is it bad to like both the Hunger Game series and Battle Royale?
Cause I saw BR on youtube and it was awesome on so many level but I still love the Hunger game series.

Not at all. I've watched all of these films, so far, and have enjoyed them all. Some people just need to feel like they're elite in some way and tear each other down. With that said, keep on doing your thing.

No, I saw it, I just didn't remember the name of the director. Why should I, I never plan on seeing another of his films? The film was bad, but that doesn't mean he didn't rip off tropes from school uniforms, rugby balls, the collapse of the Twin Towers and Merry Christmas. All within the first hour. That movie was dire. And you didn't have to mention how anti American he is, the movie did it for him. But school uniforms and rugby, those are British.

You seem confused, what has hating a country got to do with ripping off it's culture? And Western Culture is not limited to the USA. The cultural heritage of the West is based on European Culture, that means Europe. And since he had no qualms at ripping off his dead father, why should I wonder at his propensity to rip off a culture he purports to hate? He's not very impressive in any way.

imdb is a movie site, I don't wish to belittle the contributions of Europe to Western cultre, but Hollywood is located in the USA. Unless you're suggesting that Takami was influenced by European Cinema tropes (?)

No, but Battle Royale seems to appeal to some very dysfunctional people, with obsessions with scatalogical jokes and a tendency to repeat the same phrases ad nauseum.
Problem with Hunger Games (and all young adult books) is that it talks about explicit topic but doesn't have the explicit words in it. I would love to read a young adult book where kids actually sound like teenagers and use foul words and profanity.

yes, battle royale was and is original. it may not seems so on paper, but then what does? no one has brought Kinji Fukasaku's surrealism to the screen before or since in the way lynch did. it is a testament to him that it was made at all let alone become such a huge phenomenon.
Fukasaku is a creative genius. Francis Lawrence is, and always will be, a talentless, derivative and over blown name. he got lucky with Constatine. a film in itself which is totally unoriginal in which the twist is obvious in the first five minutes.
