Do you need to love cars to like this? Or racing?

I'm not a fan of either (despite being a car owner myself, lol).

Nah, its like Rocky.

Interesting. I don't hate car related things but I don't get excited by fast cars.

reply

The emotion is more important than the racing.

I took my 76-year-old mother who doesn't know what RPM means and she loved it.

Retired Parental Mother?

i've never owned a car in my life & never want to, and i can't imagine ever wanting to watch a race, but i thought this was mostly terrific, & the racing scenes were very exciting.

if you think you'd like to see it, i'd recommend catching it on the biggest screen available with a good sound system cranked loud.

You probably will be more likely to really like it the less you know about racing and cars. They make some mistakes in the film that people familiar with the sport are going to pick up on... it doesn't kill the movie, but it doesn't help it either. The person that knows little about racing will not be bothered at all.

As an avid fan of racing I thought the movie spent too much time on the human side of things and would have been much more pleased to have had much longer racing scenes, but that's from someone that can be entertained by simply watching a video of Ayrton Senna feet performing hill-toe in an NSX while doing a hot lap.

Noo, actually no sports movie requires to understand or like a certain sport to be good. It might help a little but it's no problem if you don’t care about car racings.
