The Babadook, It Follows, The Conjuring
The Babadook, to me, is in a class of it's own. The ability to make a children's pop-up book give you goosebumps is one example of why this films is so well done. I think this film will be more appreciated by audiences a few years down the road.
It Follows was unnervingly tense. I had to pause the film a few times because it was giving me too much anxiety.
The Conjuring was well done but very cliche. It's hard to be drawn into a movie when you can't connect with any of the characters on screen and there's a pop-up scare every 5 minutes.
Sinister was a surprisingly original and unconventional horror movie. The home movies were unapologetically eerie to watch. The lawn mower scene had everyone in the theater howling in shock.
