The Best Christian Film of 2014 is.... CA:TWS

On this message board, I saw a guy commenting about how he told his mom to see CA:TWS instead of Heaven is For Real because Cap was a better story of morality. I agreed, so I wrote a blog post about how I believe CA:TWS embodies way more virtues of the faith than any cheesy Christian flick.

If you follow any major world religion, you'll probably enjoy it. Check my post out and tell me what you think:

Coincidentally, my pastor at our church actually preached a sermon on this movie too. Too cool.

Merry Christmas to all, especially to all the "Steve Rogers" in the world. "There's only one God..." and we celebrate the birth of his true Son this day!

While some parts of the world are just waking up, others have been partying for hours to usher in 2015.

May God grant strength for every challenge, fulfillment in every adventure and blessings all year long. Happy New Year!

If you don't follow a religion, your life must be a very lonely thing to endure.

reply

Bullcrap. Not believing in any deity is no impediment to atheists making friends with other people, about whom there's no cause to question whether or not they're even real. And life in a godless universe isn't something to be "endured"-- it's the same experiential world, full of natural wonder and beauty and relationships, and meaning that we accept responsibility for creating for ourselves.

All your statement suggests is that your religion-- supposedly a source of inspiration and goodness-- has given you a dim, nasty view of life. (Which is actually pretty typical, since the main marketing strategy religions use to 'sell' transcendence is to vandalize and deface reality to make it appear ugly.)

I'm an island- peopled by bards, scientists, judges, soldiers, artists, scholars & warrior-poets.

There were sure a lot of innocent by-standers killed, maimed or traumatized in this movie.

Colateral damage?

reply

Traumatized is one thing, but I don't remember innocents being killed or maimed.

A few had to be injured by Fury's car chase and some cops were at least singed when they blew up the responding cops after the freeway scene.

It happens all the time. Life hurts sometimes... most of the time.

7 years later this is still true, and coincidentally the most MAGA MCU film ever made.

IMO, Christians should be making movies to this level, with real humans wrapped in layers of baggage. Rather than the perfect depictions they normally fall into the trap of.

In short, they need to speak less to Christians, and make disciples of non-Christians, as Jesus commanded.
