The best of this sort of show.

Unlike the other "treasure hunting" shows of this ilk, you actually get to see what these things sell for in the end instead of the made up numbers they throw at ya. They focus on a few key items, you get a nice little history lesson, and it moves right along. The host is engaging and the comedy bits are minimal. And being an actual auction house, it doesn't feel fake as hell like when people walk into a pawn shop with priceless antiques. It's very easy to lose half the day watching a marathon of this.

I forgot about this show, but I really liked it for exactly the reasons you stated. I'd laugh at Storage Wars when they walked through a unit throwing ridiculous values on items in the lockers. American Pickers wasn't too bad either, and they actually sold their finds right on their website.

"American Pickers wasn't too bad either, and they actually sold their finds right on their website. " Oh damn, I didn't know that. There's stuff on that show where i'm like "i'll buy that right now." All these shows are heavily syndicated now on the free digital broadcast channels. I'm always ten years behind in tv world.

I wonder if they are still in business. I was a reseller for a long time, but all of these shows ruined it for us old school guys. One factor was everyone thinking they'd get rich doung this, the other factor was exposing all these old guys to potential value, and the market became flooded. Rusty gold isn't a hot seller anymore, for the most part.
