New theory! Addison's BF is the future director of the "Evil Leaper" program!

I feel like his character is meant to be a red herring. Maybe that's not the right term, but I can't think of it... He seems kinda shady. He's a company man, but he also seems to have some air of deceit about him. I think he's in the show mainly to push Addison away from Ben... He's suspicious af. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he ends up attempting to drive the team apart, and take some of the QL team away to form the evil leaper program, as seen in the OG series. They never said when the evil leaper program was established, so it could very well be as far into the future (of the OG series) as the 2020s...
AND it would make sense that Ian would have contacted him (in season 1) from the future to warn him... He's the only "new" significant character in "present day" QL project... I think that makes it highly likely that, given what we know from Ian about the future timeline, a "new" figure like Addison's boyfriend, who already seems shady by the way he has steered Addison towards and/or away from certain lines of thinking re: Ben...
Yep, you heard it here first. I predict the writers of QL will be playing out the creation of the Evil Leaper program in the coming season(s)!

Agree, it's basically what I said in the "Hologram ladys new boyfriend" thread, just more on the side of him being behind Leaper X (Richard Martinez), like I said in that: "just because Leaper X was vanquished, doesn't mean that scenario isn't still in play and Tom may be part of that."

However, Leaper X could be what was the beginning of the Evil Leaper part from Season 5 as it was going to possibly continue in Season 6 or be a spin-off as per:

Deborah M. Pratt, meanwhile, had all sorts of plans for the Evil Leapers:

“We were setting up for Season 6, hands down. A good character like that evolves and the show evolves. We would have been listening in the chatrooms to see what people were saying.”

She was also thinking about another Quantum Leap show. “It would have been a really cool spin-off,” she says. “Making things wrong that once went right. How would you deal with that? Maybe he wasn’t a bad guy? Maybe the Evil Leaper was somebody who had to do what he had to do to get back to his own life. Or at least he thought that. That gives you a very complicated, interesting character.”
