Season 4 was a letdown. Korra and Asami. TLA > TLOK *Spoilers*

Season 4 might work as a standalone season but it was easily the worst of the 4 seasons. Weakest villain, butchering Mako until his one moment, the forced pairing of Asami and Korra, and the terrible finale...This could have been so much better.

Korra was struggling with the poison and a mental block and they put such a heavy emphasis on it, but there was no character building to get her out of it. She just visited Zaheer who took her to the spirit world and that was it...There was so much potential there to use Zaheer or figure out some way to break through her issues. You make it seem like such a problem. Korra was away for 3 years! Couldn't beat a street bender in the octagon, had visions and was fearful...yet those problems just disappeared so quickly without too much of a breakthrough.

Mako got nerfed and set aside completely after season 2. It seemed clear that someone at Nick wanted to change the direction that the story was clearly headed. If you go back to seasons 1 and 2, there is such chemistry and genuine love between Korra and Mako. Especially when you compare that to the lack of chemistry between Korra and Asami. Korra is clearly into dudes, and then all of a sudden, her and Asami are a thing in the finale. I don't have a problem with bisexual Korra or Asami, but it didn't make sense - and it clearly led to the butchering of Mako.

The end of the finale should have had a moment with Korra and Tenzin. He was so important to her growth but was barely present at the end of the show. The conclusion of the show felt so rushed. There should have been more of certain characters getting their due or having a moment with Korra (Jinora) in the finale. Instead, we get this out of place scene with Korra and Asami. Side note...what happened to Kai? And what happened to Kai & Jinora?

Seasons 1-3 were really good, although at times they seemed rushed. I actually think they could have benefited from adding more episodes to season 1 and 2. I think the quality of the seasons would have improved with more episodes. The villains and the storylines were so good in the first 3 seasons. For me, season 4 was just a letdown.

I don't dislike TLOK. It's still a good show, though overall, TLA is clearly better. Better protagonist, character development, continuity, closing arcs, and finale. Korra is still solid, a very good show actually, but there are just a few things that keep it from being elite. For me TLA has so much more replay/rewatch value as well.
