Sometimes you just want a mindless funny action movie. I laughed out loud a few times and some of the action scenes were inspired. Gosling is great as the hapless badass stunt guy and reminded me of his character in The Nice Guys. Blunt has never looked better - seriously never thought much of her but she was definitely some eye candy in this role. It's a great way to spend a couple hours in the theater.
shareI actually wouldn't call it mindless. I thought it felt like an original film in a sea of movies that feel just like other movies that I've seen a hundred times before. It was a clever and enjoyable movie overall.
That's not to say that it's perfect. I thought the first hour was better than the second. It's also a little longer than it really needs to be. But it has a good cast, fun performances and, as I said, a plot that felt like something different from the usual stuff.
It was at the very least the best action-mystery-rom-com-love-note-to-stunt-performers that I've ever seen.
