Mean Girls VS. Mean Girls 2: What went wrong with Mean Girls 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixuCGvC3Xms

Mean Girls has become an iconic phenomenon in Pop culture, when you hear "So Fetch" or "on Wednesdays we wear pink!" you immediately think of Gretchen Wieners or Karen Smith. Every single character from this movie is iconic and memorable. When you compare it to Mean Girls 2 you can't help but notice there are a lot of things missing, including that spark that made the original movie special. I this video we break down the symbolism that worked well in Mean Girls and look at how that cause Mean Girls 2 to inevitably fail. I will be breaking down the plots in order to highlight the points where the sequel fell flat. All footage used in this video is intended for the purpose of commentary and analysis.

I didn't watch the video to be honest.

I also haven't seen MG2 and don't plan to. Mean Girls worked mostly because of Tina Fey and Lindsay Lohan, who was at the top of her peak for likability and looks. This movie was made during her very short window of marketability.

Further, there was no carryover cast. How many movie sequels have ever been worth the watch without at least one main character returning. I can only think of one and it wasn't a big one.

This was a money grab and I don't think the studio was very ashamed of that fact.

Note that no one from the original except Tim Meadows as the principal seems to have been associated with this seven-years-later cash-grab.
