I quite enjoyed this film. I found it a little bit classist when the big reveal happened, but that aside it was very entertaining and kept me guessing. That's not easy to do, most movies are so one-dimensional that it's excruciatingly clear where everything is going within the first 10 minutes. This was pleasantly interesting, and tied up all the loose ends nicely. Looking forward to more interesting and inventive films like this.
shareI disagree. I don't think the entire 100 minutes was total trash. In fact I think it started off rather well and with a good amount of suspense and mystery, and THEN it became dumber and dumber and then asinine and then complete trash by the end.
shareWow. I am surprised. People complain so much about (ugh) cliche's and copy cat movies and here is something different and it is still hated.
I enjoyed it.
People don't like different or anything that makes them think. I'm sure they would have preferred your typical horror/supernatural ending.
So basically to sum that up, people are idiots.
This movie was neither different nor did it make you think. It blatantly tried to mislead the audience. It led you down the primrose path to a conclusion that was a surprise due only to the false information fed to the audience through taglines and trailers.
The taglines were purposely skewed to lead the viewer to a conclusion which was then used as a twist at the end of the movie which is, best case scenario, disingenuous and, worst case scenario, a blatant fabrication.
I went into the movie without any preconceived notions and I had the plot figured out about 10 minutes into the movie. I mean the girl in the movie had it all figured out too. If you take away the line of misinformation fed to you through the trailers and taglines for the movie, you could easily figure out what is going on in the first 20-30 minutes.
As it's 2012 if you're still seeing taglines and promos for the movie... you're living life wrong.
shareYou seem awfully mad for someone who supposedly figured it out so fast. Which of course, is complete BS. Whenever a movie or show has a twist, it never fails, someone will claim to have known from the moment the lights went den and rather trailers started rolling.
Oh and this isn't the first movie in the history of cinema to be misleading. That's kind of part of the marketing. And in this instance, the twist was very good.
If you take away the line of misinformation fed to you through the trailers and taglines for the movie, you could easily figure out what is going on in the first 20-30 minutes.Normally I do figure out movies which I find frustrating. With this movie I did not. I also did not see the trailer or tag lines. It's odd you figured it out since it was not at all what it appeared to be in the beginning. Are you psychic?

and didn't you think even for a slight moment that this is not only about suspense and plot?! vow, you American audience are living proof of why Hollywood movies are so shallow, and also low in conceptual essence!

I love movies that make me think.. but I prefer that they make me CARE about what's going on in the movie. And as a matter of fact, I would prefer if it was supernatural for a HORROR movie that is obviously based around an "urban legend." Twists can be fine when you actually give a damn about what's going on, but not every single movie these days has to have a twist. It's sad how many people don't seem to realize that now.
sharePrick.

It wasn't well executed. The characterization was poor and the motivations of the characters seemed forced. The long explanation that the mother of David gives to Jessica Biels character while she is tied up was also forced expository dialogue. I'm always happy to discover something different, but this was not a well-crafted film. It was disappointing.

shareHmm, good that you took the time to go on a message board and say this... with no points, no arguments, really nothing to say at all. Way to contribute... A+
shareBoring movie and an insult to everyone with even a 10 IQ.
shareThreads like these are an insult, not the movie. Lol.
shareSee I agree, I thought the movie was great. I think the director was really trying to send a message with this one. For people to get it together, kids are so important. And they really need their parents. I really liked it overall
Also, Jessica did a very nice job!
Love it when morons like yourself bash others for liking a movie that you did not. As if you are some genius and anyone that doesn't have the same taste in film that you do must be absolutely stupid. How about you pull that broom out of your ass and get over yourself.
