I was expecting a "rinse and repeat" of the first movie

But I never thought about cloning, namely Quaritch becoming a Na'vi avatar, along with his squad of goons. That does escalate things a lot, and to me, the most poignant moment with Quaritch was...

SPOILER

...when he found his dead human remains in the exoskeleton outside the cabin that was the setting of the climactic fight in the first movie, takes out and surveys his own human skull, essentially, regarding it in a Shakespearean way, before crushing it in his Na'vi hand as if to say "I've officially upgraded".

We now know the general plan and ooh.... it is 'glorious'. Exploration of different clans in each film - perhaps the sky clan is next? or perhaps the swamp? In Avatar 20, all 20 clans unite and fight the human invasion - lol

“Each movie is going to introduce audiences to new clans, new cultures on Pandora,” Landau said. “Once we introduce a character, they stay a part of the ongoing evolution. We just add to it. So you can expect to see the Metkayina that you meet in this movie in subsequent movies. There are other clans that we’ll introduce in movie 3 that you’ll see in movie 4 and so on and so forth.”

Back in the day Cameron said the different movies were all gonna take place on the different sister moons of Pandora. Kind of bummed that he just kept it all the same place. I thought we were gonna get a bunch more space-y. Thought we were gonna see completely new worlds and entirely new races of aliens.

Perhaps that was the toxic Cameron - he's now clean of all testosterone - ;)
Remember when Cameron was the king of sequels? T2, Aliens - those sequels were better than the original - a trait of a great director, we all said, back in the day.
Now.... the new, testosterone-free Cameron is opting for the Fast and Furious 20 sequel route - with each sequel being worse (but perhaps bigger) than the last

I'm starting to realize that perhaps testosterone is actually a necessary ingredient for great film-making.

I'm certainly gonna be taking testosterone supplements soon. I've watched all the older men in my familly turn into women. It's disgusting. Anyhow, i'll be seeing this in a few hours and i'll certainly have a more informed opinion about the state of Cameron's T count after that.
