Surprisingly good!

I watched this last night and enjoyed it quite a bit.

After I finished it, I expected to look it up on RT and find a solid score. I was surprised to see that it only had a 37%. But okay, okay, the critics are often pretty hard on action movies. However, the audience score was only 46%, which REALLY surprised me.

Yes, this film does borrow some elements from other movies, but I was happy with how good of a job it did of mashing up those elements into a film that felt interesting and imaginative.

Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace were both great. The effects were overall excellent (despite one scene that just felt weird and out of place). And the story, while simple, was effective and had some unexpected twists and turns.

I went into the film not expected much and it ended up being better than I thought it would be. As a writer, Luc Besson has been pretty hit or miss throughout his career but I count this one as one of his hits.
