Difficult to follow narrative?

DISCLAIMER: I was drunk whilst watching this.

However it must be noted I'm under the influence of alcohol for approximately 90-95% of movies I watch. It's very, very rarely a problem. The last time I was drunk and wondering what the fuck was going on was when I watched Tenet (2020). I chalked that up to drunkness and rewatched it the following day sober, I still had no idea what was happening.

Hence my question here. It wasn't the booze was it?

I think the source of confusion was;
- You have a bunch of Swedes on first name basis, most/all of whom get very little screentime and much of what is being discussed about them happened a long time ago when they were younger and looked nothing like they do now.

- Whenever some revelation comes into play that Sebastian or Ingmar or whoever the fuck did something, you're left struggling to place the name to a face and to place that in relation to the missing sister, for example their relationship to her at the time.

Am I being a drunk idiot or is this movie difficult to follow?

I will refrain from picking the low hanging fruit but TGWTDT is not hard to follow.

It's very 'jumpy' at both the start and end of the movie, yes. And yes there are a lot of characters so it's difficult to keep up with who is who, but watching the movie all the way through you start to remember the important characters.
