What is the choice?

What is the logic behind their method of preventing the apocalypse?

Will this be a 'these guys are crazy' story or are they actually correct and this is a supernatural thriller.

Spoiler alert for the movie and book it's based on:

The choice the couple and their daughter are presented with is one of them must be killed by the others. If it's exactly like the book it is more of a supernatural horror. I mean if you consider the apocalypse supernatural.

reply

I disagree. It is more of a home invasion thriller, with jabs at religion.

But is there an actual apocalypse being prevented by making this choice? Or are the invaders just loco?

reply

That’s the main question of the story.

I hope it gets answered and not left up to interpretation. The Village would have been so much better had the creatures been real. I would prefer this apocalyptic threat to be real.

reply

I don't know if this helps but when William Hurt's character was explaining everything to his daughter he did mention that those creatures they created were based on real creatures people before them had reported as living in the surrounding woods.

I guess it's still up to interpretation regardless, because while one person may say the natural disasters are simply that — natural, based on Earthly causes — someone else may say they were caused by a deity of some sort. :/
