Just watched the first episode. I'm a little confused. I was under the impression that this is supposed to be SMG's show, but she didn't show up until halfway through and only had few minutes screen time. Felt like she was a guest star. Are they just using her to push the show?

Let’s say that she’s “ attached” to the project, lending it some cache. The focus is clearly on the high school kids. Her leading days are behind her.
