I saw the movie again for the second time today

my impressions

1) i still like kate, miles and jordan for their respective roles. bell is meh.

2) Thing CGI really looks good when subjected to the eye test.

3) trank is correct in saying that the movie would have been better if they stuck to the original script (which means domashev, and no latveria). but the studio decided to scrap that idea midway and we ended up with kate mara's changing hairstyle/wig.

4) dr doom's crash test dummy look can easily be fixed with an iron mask.

5) CGI in the movie really looked good. cinematography and looked better than civil war. i enjoyed the second viewing of fantastic four more than my second viewing of civil war.

6) fox should do a sequel with this cast.

How anyone can sit through this crap more than once is absolutely baffling.

Fox should give the rights back to Marvel, where the first family of superheroes would be treated like they deserve.

According to Midnight's edge on youtube, there was a story they rejected that involved Galactus. I'm more curious on how that story line would had turned out on the big screen then what we got.

Haven't see the youtube video you're talking about, but I heard three episodes of Josh Trank's interviews with Kevin Smith on Fatman on Batman. IIRC, he talked about a storyline that was once discussed where the FF found Galactus in the negative zone (or "Planet X" or whatever you want to call it). Galactus was then going to threaten our world, but eventually that idea was transferred over to Doom, so Doom was the threat to our world instead.

Anyway, they can use whatever storyline they want. It's never going to work when they can't get the characters right.

I liked the look of Thing in this WAY more than in the other movies, and while I didn't totally hate Doom's look I agree that an iron mask would be a great remedy to his appearance.

I feel like this is one of those movies that was far from great but did a decent enough job laying the ground work for an awesome sequel. Batman Begins comes to mind, not a great movie in my opinion but was a decent setup for a killer sequel.

A boat that floats on water can also sink in it.
