7 OSCARS is what bothers me, and I liked this film

I thought it was a solid 7/10 and possibly an 8/10 depending on one or two factors. First of all it was unique in the fact that there was no build up, origin, background, etc. I liked that it just started mid-space and the characters developed naturally.

I also liked that it was a traditional 1 hour and 30 minute film instead of dragging it out to 2.5 hours.

I enjoyed the emotional scene when Ryan was faced with certain death (or so she thought) and talked about "I know we are all going to die, but I am going to die today."

All of this being aaid, 7 OSCARS? Really? Movies like Gladiator, Braveheart, Forrest Gump, all got 5 Oscars. There are so many films that got 6 or less Oscars that are more deserving IMO. Even if they are for visuals etc, no on remembers that. In 20 years they will sell the Blu-Ray (or whatever format) and boast "Winner of 7 Oscars" on the cover and people will assume it is some EPIC masterpiece.

It is an okay film that was way overhyped. I understand why there was so much hype. So many people went to theaters with little to no expectations and it was refreshing in a lot of ways. However, if you hear all the hype, oscar buzz, etc then see it, you will be thinking "What? Why?"

The stupid have one thing in common.They alter the facts to fit their views not the other way

What would they do? Deny a movie a technical Oscar so as not to disabuse people who make assumptions? Or perhaps add an asterisk*?

*As the winning of an Academy Award(c) may deceive purchases of this DVD, this Oscar(C) (merely a technical category) cannot be used in any future advertising of said movie.

I agree. I secretly really like the film. I saw it in theatres and I was in awe from the soundtrack. I agree with you completely though. This film is far from 7 Oscars. It's nothing life changing. It's critically over hyped. The film was ruined by all the hype that people seem to almost avoid it.

But these are the technical Oscars, which Gravity pretty much all deserved. Only though, I think both sound awards should have gone to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Sadly, despite great movies like Apollo 13 and Contact, with much more deserving performances and MUCH better storylines, the idiot Oscar voters (mostly elderly people previously awarded Oscars) could understand the simplistic storyline of Gravity, it was like a children's book on physics, with LOADS OF PC CORRECT INPUT.

Oscars are stupid, that is well-known, Groundhog Day, one of the great original American screenplays of all-time didn't even merit a mention at the Oscars, but back in the UK, IT WON THE BAFTA

Compared to recent Oscar winners, Gravity is a masterpiece.
