Thought This Was Decent.

Good movie I thought. The kind of movie I usually wind up liking. Nice, quiet, kinda subdued, focused on a small crowd, a simple premise that’s not fully explained nor does it have to be. Again the type of flick I usually like.

It had it’s own feel to it which I appreciated & I thought Hayden & the kid who played James were pretty good although some of you here savaged them. This movie sort of reminded me of the Twilight Zone episode “I Am the Night, Color Me Black”. In a small town that’s about to have a hanging at dawn, the residents are stymied to find when it was supposed to be daylight the night remained & the blackness of the night seemed to have increased.

This somewhat followed that formula I’d say. To me I thought maybe it was an apocalyptic themed type of movie, Gods judgement, end of the world, stuff like that & that it was localized in such a short area, a few blocks & a bar made it all the more better to me.

The ending which was criticized by most of you I thought was good. James & Briana, the little girl travel together on horseback & they learn that the daylight is now getting shorter. It’s open ended & you can use your imagination to wonder what you think may have happened to them. Overall not a bad effort. It’s been some time since I caught this on cable. I’m up for seeing it again.

I HAVE SEEN IT TWICE...IT DOES WHAT IT INTENDED TO DO...ENTERTAINING FLICK.

I liked it when I first saw it, thought the ending was good as well. I guess it's not as aggressive as people wanted it to be with a battle, and definitely nothing is neatly resolved, but that's not what this movie was trying to do and the ending feels fitting.

You know what’s interesting that I recently read on this movies Amazon’s page? One of the people who watched this, a lady, wrote a review & pointed out something that I never even noticed before.

The main characters in this are named thus: Luke, Paul, James, Rosemary. As we know Luke, Paul & James were the apostles of Jesus in the Bible as well as books in it. Also like the reviewer said “Rosemary” could be shortened to “Mary”. So that IS a rather nice little Easter egg for this movie. Went over my head, that’s for sure. I’ve never caught it before & since I don’t see any posts that reference this I”m gathering not many others have noticed this. Pretty cool huh? Maybe this gives us some idea in what light this film was intended to be viewed.

Very interesting. I may have noticed his while watching, but honestly it's been a while. I do think the biblicality of it all is subtly inferred in the story, especially in how it ends.
