Built suspense unlike I've seen in a long time...and for the complainers....

I have not watched a movie where the suspense was so well done in a long time - it just kept building and building.

And for the complainers that go on about the lack of desired response from the parents - you really are missing the point and all the clues as to why things were happening.

On top of that, recall all of the hints of why the Dutch couple picked them and were doing what they were doing. There were so many and some of them very subtle.

Also, I imagine so many of the complainers are from the US and too easily forget that often times foreign filmmakers aren't afraid to go with the dark, while too many American filmmakers avoid the dark.

The director has also stated he kept things the way they were because to explain everything would create a "Netflix" movie where everything is always explained.

You might enjoy "Bad Sisters".

Yeah, the momentum in this film is something special.

I didn't care for the ending. I thought its darkness was undeserving (but I'm not gonna get into all that). I can get on board with some allegorical readings. But it was just hard for me to go along with the climax. And I'm not opposed to tragic endings personally (Oculus is my favorite horror film).

But yeah, the little hints, the well-developed personalities of our cast members. This movie was definitely worth watching. And it's disappointing if people's frustration with the ending leaves them unable to appreciate all the little nuances of the film. Great acting performances here for sure.
