Where were the curtains?

The entire home did not have a single drape, venetian blind or curtain. Just bizarre but with such a slow build up with no payoff I guess I was bored while watching this.

I thought the same thing. Why would you go into a house at night and turn on all the lights and not even take into consideration the fact that anyone outside could see everything you're doing? And they were soo willy nilly about it, not a care in the world...

The curtains were gone so the killer could film them. Perhaps the aunt was in on it! lol. It's what you might call a ham-handed plot device. Horror lives on them; in fact, most horror couldn't exist without them. People have to panic, split up, do really stupid things, otherwise we can't watch them be picked off one by one, and the monsters would have to kill them all at once, and then the movie would be over in 15 minutes.

That was my first thought. I have seen this a lot in houses that are in secluded areas. When I was a kid, I used to go to my friends house in the Poconos and her house did not have any curtains either. Come to think of it, neither did most of the other houses. I don't understand why people do that.

It's nobody's business but ours.

I was bored too!

There are some people who just don't do curtains or blinds, but my thought was - they know there's someone outside (eg the package outside the door) yet they leave the lights on so they can be seen perfectly, whilst whoever is on the outside is shrouded in darkness.

I guess it's a horror movie & characters are meant to be dumb. God forbid a "reality" type movie actually have realistic characters.

the only sense i can make out of that is that the aunt had said that there was alot of work done on the house. thats why the power was off. maybe she didnt want the curtains dirtied while the house was being worked on or maybe she took them to be dry cleaned

That's a very plausible excuse for not having curtains. Another reason could be that it's not uncommon for people living in low-crime isolated areas to simply not bother with curtains if they don't expect night-time unexpected visitors on their property.

I know right? Anyone could just hang out anywhere and watch them at night. Hell..they could make a picnic out of it, and go unnoticed ad long as the lights inside were on

I'm glad someone brought this up. It bothered me how they had absolutely no curtains or drapes. And this house had the hugest windows going...and there they sat with EVERY light on in the house in front of these huge curtain-less windows so any one could see them. It was odd!

If there is a Muslim ban, they can pretend they're Christians. You know, like Republicans do.

The house was located in an isolated area: one of the characters says, “you can’t get here without a car.” There was no neighbors or anything. So they didn’t have curtains because there was no one to see inside the house
