1) They tried to make it seem like the tape was the reason Barb Wire bombed and Pam's acting career never took off. In actuality it was her lack of acting ability and the movie being just awful that hurt her chances at more big roles.
2) The talking penis.
I kind of lost interest after really enjoying the first two episodes. I figured with the talking penis it would stay that type of silly and over the top. Instead it did a hard left into dark and sad. It couldn't decide what type of show to be.
They didn't know what to do with Tommy. In episode one he was a complete dick. In another episode he was just a charming idiot. In another he was tormented and sad. He was inconsistent and I couldn't tell whether to hate or love him. Eventually I just didn't care.
The writers then seemed to really make Pam into this innocent flower. I remember when this all went down. You're right - Pam's acting career never took off because she left Baywatch AND Home Improvement at the same time and her exposure wained. Barb Wire was a terrible movie, and instead of trying to get a role in something more her speed like a RomCom, she knocked out a couple kids and did a really silly syndicated show.
