Why did he marry his ex GF mother?
I heard the main character is the man who actually went thru this experience.. Is that true?
He went back to his abuser....and did not press charges.
He was entangled with her because she filled a need. As horrible as she was.

Yes, the story is autobiographical with some changes made to conceal identities.
I am not sure what to make of his decision to go back to his abuser, but he self-admitted that he makes bad choices. Maybe he thought that with his stronger mental state, he could finally get the career boost he wanted from that guy without falling victim to his drug/grooming scheme.
The whole psychological interplay of the two characters is that they both had vulnerabilities and weaknesses that played into their weird attachment to each other. She was a mentally ill woman who stalked for attention and control. He was a struggling comic who craved attention, and also a closeted bisexual who could not deal with problems that would “out” him in any way.

I did some research on the story after watching and understand the background now.
