Tracking for a $30-ish million DOM OW. Likely to claim first place at the BO ahead of Indiana Jones.

The budget is only $16 million. Certified money maker right here. On course for the second or third biggest horror opening of the year.

Reviews are quite poor so far, only 37% on RottenTomatoes.

Indy with its PLFs and Imax screen holds is expected to ease around -60% per industry estimates with $24M — but don’t underestimate the vibrant power of The Red Door which tracking has around $22M. It’s going to be a fun July 4 hangover weekend before Paramount/Skydance light the wick on Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One on Wednesday. That said, remember horror movies are front-loaded and apt to drop on Saturday. That said, Insidious: The Last Key saw a -13% dip on its first Saturday against Friday (which included previews).

I really liked the first two Insidious movies. Didn't think that much of the next two. I'm mixed on the trailer for this.

‘Insidious: The Red Door’ Slams On ‘Indiana Jones’ With $31M Opening – Saturday AM Box Office Update

Yes, Insidious: The Red Door is a Blumhouse fifthquel. But Sony gets props here for marketing this film and choosing a killer theatrical release date in between Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and ahead of the Tom Cruise summer box office cyclone, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning — all fueling to what looks to be the horror franchise’s second-best opening at $31M after Insidious: Chapter 2‘s $40.2M.

This will entomb Indiana Jones in second place in its second weekend with $25M-$28M. The Insidious franchise is as alive as other long-running horror franchises; Saw V and the fifth Scream, putting up $30M starts. Many are accounting for the front-loaded nature of Red Door with at least a -30% decline today off Friday’s $15.22M, which includes $5M previews.

"Reviews are quite poor so far, only 37% on RottenTomatoes."

And that percentage can only get worse.

Just saw it today and it was beyond boring. All build up and the most tepid climax imaginable.

They'll turn a profit and laugh all the way to the bank with this lackluster dud.

Real, creepy, gets-under-your-skin horror is a lot harder to pull off than many think.

WW gross is at $122 million after 10 days. Big financial success. 💰

$24 million short of EDR's total and $46 mill short of Scream VI's.

Overtook Evil Dead Rise. Now only $13 million behind Scream VI and $23 million behind M3gan.

I'm happy for Patrick Wilson.

Up to $174 million WW. Only $5 mill behind M3gan. Big bucks!!

Big congrats to Patrick Wilson for having a huge box office hit with his first directorial effort. I wonder if Wan and co will let him direct a Conjuring movie at some point.
