Not as bad as people make it out to be

I thought it'd be trash and the only reason people gave it ~7/10 on IMDB was maybe cause of Joaquin/it was a Scott film, but yes a 7/10 is a rightful score (Update: I think it's currently at a 6.5 on IMDB as of 15/01/2024). Not anything amazing, but definitely not a bad movie either. I guess the history buffs don't like it as apparently it isn't very accurate, or they couldn't fit all of his history in, which is fair enough.

Plus, I thought the whole cuckold angle was hilarious! (but he was still dunkin' his donker in other girls whilst he was away, so it wasn't totally 'cuckold') And the way he'd go at it like a jack rabbit! *slap slap slap slap slap*

I think the reason we are told Napoleon had other girls was to make sure we don't sympathise with him, Ridley Scott wanted him to look as bad as possible.

I mean the only times he was away were when he was in the army, when he was at war. Where did he find girls? He was not really a party guy.

I liked it too and don't quite get the negativity that just boils down to whining about historical accuracy and that it didn't show every random battle Napoleon won so we could know what a badass he is.

And yes, Phoenix's more neurotic portrayal was interesting to watch.
