Top 5 most unreleastic, ridiculous and absurd storylines from Glee

5. Coach Bieste "has always felt like a man inside"
4. Mercedes Jones, successful recording artist, signed to a real record label
3. Kurt is accepted into NYADA despite having no standout talents or abilities
2. Artie is desirable and gets laid by hot chicks (or anyone for that matter)
1. Muscleman Kurt Hummel

5. Burt Hummel constantly dying of everything
4. The ongoing flipflopping of the McKinley student body, going from hating to liking to loving to not liking Glee club and its members
3. Not one Glee member dated someone outside of the/a Glee club
2. Not one Glee member was uninterested in dating/sex/relationships in general
1. Rachel. Nothing about Rachel’s story is believable. The most unlikeable girl in the entire school dates the high school quarterback, becomes prom queen, is almost always the lead singer for a Glee club full of people who mostly don’t like her and some of whom are more talented than her, ends up going to the school of her dreams after failing her first audition and then quits, ends up in her dream role on Broadway and then wants to quit, gets her own TV show - all completely unbelievable.

Agreed with OP's 5 and 3. The rest seem possible because you don't have to be that desirable to get laid, anyone can gain muscle mass and anyone can become a recording artist - success was not a definite.

Mercedes dated that football guy for a short time. He was never in the glee club

And then Karofsky dating Blaine lol

reply

Watching season six now, and I'm completely baffled how there's supposed to be any chemistry between Blaine and Karofsky. It's so out there, I find it absurd 

Karofsky was obviously the rebound, but they did not have any chemistry at all. I think they broke them up for suspense for the wedding episode, which they could've still surprised everyone with by them planning a huge ceremony planned far down the road only to throw it out the window and get married with Britney and Santana. It would've made much more sense. I also thought it made no sense for Kurt to date Walter. He was older than Burt. Burt would've had a fit.

I've not seen season 6 yet btw

~ The amount of times the original new directions come back during season 4, Quinn is meant to be at Yale ffs! And even when the return is explained, why would they all meet up at high school rather than Breadstix or something like real people would, I''m sure that many non students being in a school is a safeguarding issue!!!

~ Sue pregnancy

~ Lucy Caboosey (?)

~ I've not seen it yet but Blain and Karofsky!!!

~ Poor Marley and the bulimia storyline,

~ Sue!

~ I agree with everything said about Rachel

~ Tina being so neglected when she's fab and an original member

~ That all the original members aren't the same age! That kinda sneaks up on us when suddenly half of them don't leave!

I know that's more than 5 but as lovely and amaze as the show is, its bat *beep* crazy at times!

*The New Rachel- Why would they go through that "there's only one person who's good" thing again??
-Also Britney even being included in that competition in the first place, I don't care what poll she won, how were they even entertaining that?
*Everyone having sex that one time (particularly Santana and Quinn)
*That Rachel and Finn would have ever won the competition in "Duets" or that Sam and Quinn won on the strength of their "cuteness"
*Sam and Mercedes. It felt forced, like "well...Mercedes and *spins wheel* Sam haven't been together yet. It's new!! It's different!! It's unexpected!!!"
*Rachel's TV show. IDK...I checked out after the first group graduated.

reply

Speaking of the duet competition, I thought it was ludicrous that super-competitive Rachel would willingly give up trying just so Sam could win and feel comfortable . . . why on earth would Rachel care so much about how comfortable Sam feels in the glee club?

1. Sue baby thing...probably one of the most ridiculous plots in all tv history that I can remember 
2, Rachel quitting Funny Girl to join a tv show based around her life that ends up being the worst show ever made....only for Rachel to be welcomed with open arms back at NYADA 
3. Kurt's sporadic audition at NYADA, jeez if only we could all get a second chance audition for a top theater school at the most random moment possible
4. The rehashed season one characters trying to pretend they're new characters in season four.
5. Coach Biest's thrown in last minute sex change decision. Question if she wanted to be male so much, that once she started dating, she started fixing her hair nicer and wearing jewelry. just seemed to really be stretching reality there

I don't think Bieste's sex change was SO ridiculous. I just now got to season 6 and had read the spoilers and was expecting to find it ridiculous, but honestly couldn't she have just been trying the whole time to fit in her body? She thought men would notice her if she had makeup/jewelry etc when she would start dating and she WAS interested in men. Yeah they threw it in all of a sudden but she was seeing a shrink and said that she just always felt wrong in her body but might not have known it was an actual disorder. Just my opinion, I wasn't as annoyed by it as I was expecting to be.

5. Coach Bieste suddenly getting a sex change
4. Mercedes goes to LA and immediately becomes a successful recording artist in less than a year
3. Mr. Schu suspending an anorexic student for not wearing an outfit than made her feel uncomfortable
2. Brittany and Santana's wedding suddenly becoming Kurt and Blaine's wedding, and Santana was ok with it, this was so out of character that Santana herself pointed it out. Just because you point it out doesn't make it okay.
1. Within a year after graduating high school Rachel (even though she has no real experience outside of a couple school productions) is staring in a hit new Broadway play and being offered her own tv show. Realistic conflict, what's that?

reply

I agree with point 3. What Mr Schu did there was pretty awful and absurd. I wonder if at times the writers were deliberately being dicks.

Get on the scale son! Get off the scale.

5.) Coach Bieste getting a sex change.
4.) Santana being outed on TV. I'm pretty sure people would be arrested for that.
3.) Rachel leaving Broadway for some television show.
2.) Finn and his mother being thrown out for calling a lamp "faggy" out of anger. They seriously couldn't use "fag" or something?
1.) The school body having to learn that being gay isn't something to be bullied over or ashamed of, multiple times. Either that, or Blaine's questioning of his bisexuality and Kurt's biphobia being validated.

reply

5. Mostly any storyline involving Sue Post Season 4. It seriously was ridiculous.
4. Coach Bieste wanting to become a man. It was so weird. She always said how much she just wanted to be treated like a girl and so on.
3. Sue having a child. The storyline was ok but why use it if you're only gonna mention/show Sue's child in Season 3 and the first half of Season 4 and then completely dismiss it?!!?
2. The Jake/Marley/Ryder love triangle. First Marley was with Jake and then she was with Ryder and then she was back with Jake and then I lost track after season 4. I'm not even sure if she ended up with Ryder or Jake after 'City of Angels'.
1. The Myron storyline(ish). Seriously, a super annoying 12 year old attending McKinley and joining the Glee Club?!?!

reply

1. Rachel's entire arc; with her scoring the lead role in Funny Girl (along the sh*t she pulled with her directors, and her being welcomed back into NYADA despite practically spitting on Madame Tibideaux's second (and last) chance, and her getting a Tony. As others said, she's said time and time again that she dreamed of making it big on Broadway since she was a toddler, and then she gets bored with it only a few months after getting the lead of a big name musical? I still find it ridiculous and insulting that a newbie who has no previous credits would get something like that just handed to them.

2. "The Klaine Show", with the forced marriage that nobody asked for in the final season--especially when they've both proven to be terrible people to one another.

3. Mercedes becoming a successful recording artist right not long after graduation. Yeah, there are young artists out there, but it's just not that realistic. This also goes for Sam's modeling storyline. Just not that likely or real.

4. Everything relating to NYADA, especially a handful of students from the same school, in the same "small city" getting into a school that's made out to be the Harvard of art schools--which is notably true with Rachel and Kurt, who forced themselves onto Tibideaux (like demanding second chances) and/or having no real qualities or abilities that make them worthy, as you stated.

5. Sue's baby. I only included this one because it had no closure, and nothing came of it besides Finn saying what he did that pissed everyone off.

Honorable Mentions:

6: Everything revolving around Sue's antics as a whole: How the hell she didn't get rightfully fired after the first season, I don't know.

7. Terri's faked pregnancy: I highly doubt she would have gotten away with things for as long as she did, even for having a hysterical pregnancy.

8. Everything relating to Schue's antics as a whole: From how he favorites students over others, and how creepy and alarming his interactions with the ND and student body are. I know others have said this, but doesn't he have friends his own age? If any teacher did anything he did, even if viewed out of context (like Rachel's creepy crush on him, or how he got pissed off at Marley in some Katy Perry themed episode), his ass would be fired on the spot.

9. Samchel in Season Six. I honestly found Blam to be more realistic. Their relationship felt so random and sudden, and I can't wrap my mind around it.
