Why not just use remote-control Iron man?

Why doesn't Tony use remote control Iron Man more often? It seems to work well, without putting himself in danger. The only downside I saw in the film is that it breaks apart easily. But I am sure he could fix that easily.

reply

What if he can't fix it, or if he finds that the lag-time isn't acceptable?

In addition, there are times where he has to be there himself. I mean, if everyone else is going into harm's way, why should he take the safe route?

reply

Iron Man 3 is such a terrible movie. TDKR is definitely better and more accurate to the comics.

reply

Oh just shut the hell up already!

reply

Because then the stakes arent high enough

reply

If he's not in the suit he can't listen to his MP3s in the head set.

As Tony clearly stated... he is Iron Man. Period.

You want something corny? You got it!

The Mark 42 is built to break apart, so that limitation wouldn't exist in other suits if he remote controlled them.

While he could use this tactic more I would think one strike against it is that his reaction times would be a bit slower. i.e. time for the data to transmit to him and then for his commands to transmit back to the suit. Being in the suit is just going to be quicker.

Reading my signature constitutes admission that I am correct. (Too late)

1.) lag
2.) the ability to control the armor remotely means the armor is vulnerable to being hijacked remotely
3.) it's safer in the armor
4.) tony's ego

Because that's no fun!

No, really. Seriously, Tony isn't the kind of guy who likes to stay home and play video games instead of flying through the sky and blasting things with glove torpedoes. And using the remote suit would be almost exactly like playing a video game.

Everybody trying to explain this from a logical and technical way. But I think it has all to do with Tonys ego and how he wouldnt want to miss the action and about his deep personality conflict he has with himself about his sense of morality. Its important for Tony to show to everybody that he is in the suit also.
