absolute rubbish

Was so looking forward to seeing this movie after seeing the trailer at the cinema.
It startsof well then kinda goes downhill..has a lot of pointless scenes and characters (the druggie female cop) and is full of location plot holes!!
Stahams character who talks in whispers and tries to come off as a hard man is just laughable as is the killers reason to start killing cops...dont waste ur time!

It was fine for what it was, obviously they didn't make it with the Oscars in mind.

WTF! a jason statham film rubbish? surely not.

That's an awful excuse for how bad this was. The Tournament wasn't made with Oscars in mind either and it was a great fun action movie.

This? This was stupid and boring and a complete and utter waste of JS. And the thing is it could have been cool had it been more focused and a different guy cast as The Blitz who was not channeling Tom Cruise in his interpretation of a psychopath.

Don't try to cash in love, that check will always bounce.

WPC Falls was neeed as one of the intended victims, as was the Inspector hammered to death, they were all linked as Blitz was targeting his local station and the officers within who had run-ins with him. You could say that we didn't need to see the wife's cremation either... just giving the characters a bit of dimension.

I'll give this little cookie an hour before we're doing the no-pants dance. Time to musk up.

at leat i expected a decent action flick, this was just too poor

I liked it... wasn't great but was entertaining. Sort of predictable and couple of pointless scenes but i enjoyed it. Then again, Jason Statham movies are my guilty pleasure.

Worth killing for, worth dying for, worth goin to hell for.

reply

it was better than the Crank series and Transporter 2/3 and 10x better than the expendables.

reply

this is nowhere near the quality of the crank films. thats some of statham's finest action work to date. they're pure exploitation gold. fine if thats not ur taste but that doesnt mean theyre not quality pieces of entertainment.

"Blitz" was not an action film. Despite that it had a few brief but very well done action sequences. It's a crime drama/thriller. And about the people complaining about the black female cop. She's a character in the books. And it's too bad they didn't start with the first book in the series. "Blitz" was number #4. Each book showed the decline of the black girl. And her friendship with Sgt. Brant.

This is the movie not the book, is this movie only aim at audience who had read the books? No. A good screen writer would of been able to see that the female cop subplot was pointless and don't add anything to the movie as a whole. They should of alter her character and made her more active in the actual case and throw out the whole trying to help her skin head friend story. She can still have a drug problem but just don't devote a whole subplot to it.

It was slow and pretty boring for the most part. I wanted more action. The guy who played Blitz was a piece of work. Good acting job on his part, but everyone else seemed to be moving in slow motion. Was not one of Jason Statham better movies. He should have passed on this one. Looking forward to seeing him in Expendables 2.

I have to agree that this film was one of the worst POS I've seen in a while, the quality of the production was terrible - it was like watching an 18 rated 'The Bill' movie. I expected Aiden Gillen to get a better backstory, his appearance in the trailer is what interested me (& he was the best thing about the film) - he looked like The Joker let loose in a gritty, drug-fuelled London but ended up being lumbered with a lazy beach-novel reason for doing what he was doing & in the end was kind of boring. Criminal!

I thought the movie was morally repugnant and I found Statham's character to be thoroughly unlikeable. The guy was just a thug with a badge. There was nothing special about the movie at all. It was all incredibly average, middle of the road except for the reprehensible ending. It wasn't boring but there was nothing about the movie was particularly good either. A waste of a talented cast.

Yes, finally! I was wondering why everyone else was ignoring this movie's glorification of police-brutality. That was what made what would already have been a sub-par "thriller" into pure garbage. Not that heroes (or anti-heroes) always have to be likable, but they should at least be sympathetic in someway. I'll put it this way; the movie doesn't work when you want the villain to win.

i agree with the op. i too was mislead by the trailer. how anyone can defend this horrible POS is beyond me. There´s absolutely nothing to enjoy in this. There´s no action at all. If this was supposed to be drama, i mean c´mon, the characters are paper thin and badly written cliches, the tough no nonsense cop statham plays being the worst. If its crime, well they reveal the identity of the killer early on and his motivation is laughable as is the investigation. I mean, the snitch actualy finds out who the killer is before the police and with minimum effort. This is just a sad pathetic movie.

How do you like your brandy, sir?

Being a bad movie has a lot to do with the fact that Jason Statham is lost when he has to act instead of being tough

This was a good crime thriller. Better than mindless rubbish like TRANSPORTER and THE MECHANIC. This was a character driven Statham film and those with short attention spands were probably surfing the web while watching which explains why they were lost. The Black cop was in the film to fuel Statham's rage and get the prick. Statham's best after SNATCH. Nice to see him do something different. If you don't like films like this, there's no need to call it rubbish. To each his own and remember that some people out there like to think. If you don't, go play video games. Morons.

Because watching a movie takes so much more mental energy than playing a video game? I liked this movie and I like playing video games. I also loved the mechanic and after reading your message all I could think was what a *beep*

reply

I agree with Fulci. This is a tight police thriller with a twist. But, all is kept low key and more realistic than most. More of a thinker than some of the "cartoonish" types on the market. Well done IMHO. Very well done.

reply

You'd seem much smarter if you defended a thriller that was actually intelligent. Defending this movie isn't doing you any favors.

reply

Yep, total cr*p, made ditch-water look interesting - wasting my download allowance again.

reply

Its a shame, but most british films turn out to be crap... we cant make decent movies for *beep* these days

reply

I agree OP. I like Jason Statham a lot as an action hero (Transporter and Crank were AWESOME IMO), but this movie was lame. He should stick to more action oriented roles because he is great at it.

Crank2 was like something you find in the bargain bin in the DVD shop and the only people who would buy it are chavs who "like violence 'n'stuff innit". This was much more along the lines of 'Prime Suspect' but with Statham to kick the sh!t out of the bad guys. Sorry OP but it worked reasonably well for me.

It is.

Jason Statham films seems to be going downhill. He always plays similar kind of chars but the movies he stars in are being more and more mediocre.
