I never understood...

One thing I never understood is how Sean Parker tells the college girl that he is broke because he's been "sued by anyone who has ever been to the Grammys," but then when he goes out to dinner with Mark and Eduardo, he orders a ton of stuff and picks up the tab. Also when he takes Mark to the club, he's poppin all sorts of bottles. If he's so broke, how is he able to keep up with the millionaire lifestyle?

He also has $ to buy drugs too.

Maybe he was maxing out credit cards, who knows?

He just tells the chick he slept with that he's not a zillionaire, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have cash. Before Facebook Parker also founded Plaxo so he definitely wasn't sitting around doing nothing.

A marketing bait for Mark.

I had a friend once tell me that when he said he's broke, it just means until he goes to the bank to reload.

I thought about that too. It seemed to be an inconsistency within the scene. It was almost so obvious, that it might have been a deliberate attempt at irony on the part of the filmmakers.

I suspect that when somebody has been wealthy, becoming "broke" to them has a very different meaning from what average joes consider "broke."

Don't feel bad. Its a plot hole

I never thought about that before. I guess he came across as a chancer and a bit of a freeloader - maybe he charmed or blagged his way into getting huge tabs at these places, or had someone else picking up the bill.
