Is Lucy Punch's American accent any good?

Just watching Bad Teacher and was wondering whether any Americans on here could let me know what they think of Lucy Punch's accent in this film? I'm English, like her, so I can't tell whether it is particularly good or not.

I didn't even know she wasn't American. Not only was it spot on, she also had a slight Midwestern twang. The movie is based in Illinois, so I assumed she was from there (I didn't know who she was before this movie). She was extremely funny. Brilliant, even.

It was excellent. Of course, I wasn't looking for it, I had no idea. Then I watched the outtakes and she would talk to the director normally. I was surprised.

reply

No agfraid not! It sounds almost a us\west country mash up.

reply

I agree it was terrible

reply

It wavered a bit.

Its that man again!!

reply

I thought her accent seemed off.

I recognized her from her earlier work (Dinner for Schmucks, Ella Enchanted), and so I was looking for any slips. She may have been slightly off at one point ("Gotcha!"), but otherwise was, as you Brits would say, spot-on. Her American accent was terrific. It was a weird midwestern-y sort of thing, but the character was weird as well, so it suited her perfectly.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

I had no idea she was British, so I guess it was good.
