Is Lucy Punch's American accent any good?

Just watching Bad Teacher and was wondering whether any Americans on here could let me know what they think of Lucy Punch's accent in this film? I'm English, like her, so I can't tell whether it is particularly good or not.

reply

It was fine to me. I didn't even know she was British.

reply

Had no idea she was British, very good American accent

reply

I didn't know she was British, but I assumed she was and American trying to do a purposefully annoying Midwestern accent. But maybe she was British and trying to do a purposefully annoying Midwestern accent. :) I'm from Pennsylvania and people from around here speak nothing like that.

reply

Pennsylvania isn't the Midwest (Missouri), and I've heard hundreds of people talking EXACTLY like that.

Sorry about that post, I'm a little stoned.

This movie was worth watching just for Lucy Punch.

Definitely the highlight for me too. Before I watched Bad Teacher, I knew her from her role in the first season of Doc Martin, where her character was not as likeable as her character here, but she's got the chops for both roles. I'll have to watch Hot Fuzz again because I didn't know who she was when I saw it way back when. And I've got to say that I find Lucy Punch hotter than Cameron Diaz.

She's a Brit? Shut the front door!

reply

I thought she was using an exaggerated Midwestern accent or that the character had a tiny speech impediment. She's a very good comedic actress.

i thought she was american xD

reply

I would say that it was pretty good as I had no clue she was British.

reply

I didn't even realize she wasn't American until I saw this thread. So I'd say spot-on
