Venom stopped being interesting in 1992

He's a comic character that probably shouldn't have gone past his first story in 1988. Really interesting, but limited. I would imagine he'll be even less interesting in the movie because there's no Secret Wars/"costume tries to absorb Spider-Man" Plot here.

I have NEVER seen the appeal of this character. Even less so with Carnage. But people can't get enough. I don't even like black suit Spider-Man.

The original black suit story was cool. And the original Venom story was great too. It just ran out of steam in the ensuing years.

Negative! The 1993 Lethal Protector series, which this film will be heavily inspired by, arguably told Eddie Brock and Venom’s best+most interesting story. That’s a fantastic series that happened to be a major turning point for Venom/Eddie.

You might’ve lost interest, but to me and many other Venom fans, there have been numerous fascinating and cool Venom stories told long after his debut (Funeral Pyre & Separation Anxiety to name a few). Plus it’s worth noting that the symbiote has “venomized” nearly every Marvel hero throughout the years, so if that isn’t interesting, then boo. Regarding his solo film, the WAY I SEE IT... Tom Hardy in the trailer looks like he will be portraying an intense and multi-dimensional character. The character deserves his stand-alone film, as far as I’m concerned.

Update: Venom #1 was released this year, and I’d be damned if that wasn’t an interesting Venom story. Brilliant issue!
