For the haters

Oh for crying out loud! It was an entertaining movie. Beautiful people. Beautiful places. Fun story. IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE THE CURE FOR CANCER. Get over yourselves.

I really hate the word "hater". It's just something you can label a person if you're intellectually too lazy to listen to their arguments or come up with some of your own.

reply

I agree with your sentiment. They have labelled everyone who had a valid argument about this glorified advertisement for clothing, jewellery, alcohol and eye shadow. People must feel some kind of self loathing to go along to a patronising film because they like the stars and then feel the need to defend it by using one word. I like the stars in other films too, but this was beneath both of them and phoned in.

whoever defends this movie and found it entertaining should see a doctor.

You are the one who should see a doctor.

Absolutely! Beautiful setting, good acting, ravishing Angelina, interesting Johny, charming story... what else can one expect out of an entertaining movie? I give it a 7.5 to an 8.0.

Just watched this movie (yet) again and I still think it's great. It occurs to me that, if it had been made in the '60s with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly as the stars, people would look at it differently and realise what a truly amusing and good looking story it is. I think that many expect different performances from Depp and Jolie so this doesn't quite fit the bill for them. In fact, watched for what it is, rather than what some think it might have been, it is an excellent piece of entertainment. Also, let's not forget that the screenplay was written by Julian Fellowes - that's a great recommendation right there.

There's real life ... and then there's movies!
