i totally agree with you, ciudadgotica!
when i saw that he was cast as dorian gray, my first thought was, "he's not handsome enough to play the character (who's supposed to be gorgeous) and, as far as i know, he's not really an "actor", just some cheap piece of eye candy (for young girls, well said).

...Of all the things I might have disliked about this film (though I still liked it), Ben's acting is the last thing I would think of to be even close to the vicinity of "bad". His acting was actually the first thing I noticed that was amazing in this film. If anyone hates this movie, it cannot possibly be because of the acting of Ben Barnes. He was brilliant in this. Brilliant.

And if Ben Barnes isn't "good looking", then neither are Brad Pitt (young), Orlando Bloom, or Pierce Brosnan. I'm a guy, I'm not gay, and I KNOW that Ben Barnes is good-looking. I don't know how the hell you could possibly think otherwise.
