what´s the point of casting an UGLY man as Dorian who CAN´T ACT?????

Ben Caspian was horrible in it... period.

Yes! I totally agree. It was very awkward being told by clumsy dialogue and no subtextt that "he is so handsome" ah, no. He's not even remotely handsome. Embarrasingly tragic. I wanted to claw my eyes out.

if he is ugly then who do you call pretty? He was breathtakingly beautiful in this.

I agree. It was a horrible movie. They made a ghost ride out of the famous, brilliant novel. Nice, beautiful actors but a very shallow piece of art. Dorian Gray for the working class movie-goers who haven't had a chance to read the novel or any interest in doing so. That's ok, but then I don't need to see it. Bad thing about is, as soon as the working class movie goers have seen this movie they don't pay attention to the novel anymore, so they miss the opportunity to read a great piece of literature and culture, which has still something to say about our times.

Barnes is his last name. He played 'Prince Caspian'.

Carpe Noctem!

Without reading the plethora of past replies to your post, I'm just gonna say that you are very wrong! Ben Barnes was a professional stage actor when he was casted for the role of Dorian Gray. He is very far, far, far away from being ugly and untalented! There are hundreds or worse actors out there who got casted in bigger Hollywood roles just because of nepotism! I, and many, many, many others, think that Ben has done a magnificent job in portraying Dorian Gray, with all his peculiarities, like in the book! Please do your research before posting mean comments on boards!

I don't think Ben Barnes is ugly, or untalented, but definitely he's not so sexy as Dorian should have been portrayed, and he was not a good choice for the role, although he tried his best. He was kind of flat, not at all the charming irresistible handsome man with curly blond hair and bright blue eyes that the reader of the book expects.. I read the book first and I had quite higher expectations, I didn't like the differences from the original. Also the addition of Emily Wooton was terribly unnecessary. On the other hand, Colin Firth was magnificent for his part. In my opinion, they should have read the book first, and stick to it. It is not a masterpiece by chance.

Ben Barnes is gorgeous and the reason I wanted to see the movie. I don't know how anyone could say he's ugly. The boy is beautiful. Plus he can act. I thought he was great in it.

real human being and a real hero

I have the exact opposite opinion.

Though he does look like me to be fair.
