I walked out and got a refund..

One of the worst movies i've seen in a long time!!!! I watched about 30 min of this piece of garbage and i got a refund. Boy this movie sucked. I love RDJ, but it was just awful. Sorry.

reply

[deleted]

Yeah this movie is pure garbage.

I'm glad the OP got his refund, you deserve it 100%. And yeah, we don't need anymore of these trash movies on cinemas. I hope more will follow and get their refunds.

reply

[deleted]

You're proving the "haters" right simply by using the word "beast" as an endearing adjective. Go ride your skateboard, duuuude.

These bastards!

reply

elitist much?

reply

No, it's just revealing how most of the "haters" can actually explain their reasons for disliking it, whereas those who liked it just say "MAN U GOT NO SENSE OF HUMOR ITS A BEAST MOVIE!!"

These bastards!

reply

While it is very funny you obviously haven't seen many comedies to say its the funniest you've ever seen. Just saying.

reply

Well, I didn't get a refund but I made the people at the concession booth brush my teeth

reply

LOL

reply

Both you and the OP are retards. Even though you don't like a movie does not entitle you to get a refund. It is your own damn choice to see it. And if you watched the trailer or even read a little about it, you would know what kind of film it was.

And even if a film is bad. The cinemas showing it does not owe you *beep* No one does. So you spent some money and regret it. Deal with it like a grown-up. Make a better choice next time.

reply

[deleted]

Theaters don't give refunds because you don't like the movie. The OP is just attention seeking.

reply

Youve never heard of that? Ive seen people do it before

reply

[deleted]

Hahaha! Only in America!

reply

You can get a refund or a credit for any reason.

I've walked out of plenty of movies. Probably all the movies that tweens like @Boogie_Nights watched repeatedly.

reply

[deleted]

No one deserves a refund when going to the movies. When you buy a ticket, you know there's a chance you won't like it. There are reviews in advance telling you which movies critics like and which ones they don't. It's your fault for going to see it. If the movie wasn't good, that's not the theater's fault and they shouldn't have to pay you for being stupid enough to ask for a refund. If you went to a restaurant and didn't like your meal, would you ask for a refund after eating half of it?

reply

yeah I could tell by your profile pic that you have great taste in movies ..

reply

^^ Agree! I always find this kind of posts really silly and childish lol! It's their problem not ours.

reply

[deleted]

I find people who do this regularly to be ignorant. The people like the OP who started this thread are the same people who will go to a restaurant and order a steak medium rare. When they get their steak, they will take one bite of it, and if they don't like the way it's cooked or flavored or whatever, they'll immediately spit out the food, and call for a manager and demand an immediate refund, upon which they will get up and leave. Drama-queens is what I call them. Stop being ignorant. The theater didn't force you to go see the movie, YOU chose to see the movie. So if YOU didn't like it, then suck it up and bite the bullet. Don't go asking for your money back.

By the way...anyone who walks out of a movie after only 20 minutes is ignorant. You have to give a movie a chance, 20 minutes doesn't do it. And for you to come onto this board and brag that you walked out and got your money back after only seeing 20 minutes of it. Wow....you are really something aren't you. Like I said, you are the typical drama-queen. I bet you've "caused a scene" before just to get your way. Grow up.

reply

My husband, two daughters, & teen-aged granddaughter walked out when they were sleeping in the car and Ethan and the dog were pleasuring themselves. We did NOT ask for any money back, although I'm glad we went to the 11:30 showing, which was $6 per person. We all thought it was just an absolutely lousy movie.

Boo Hoo! Let me wipe away the tears with my PLASTIC hand!--Lindsey McDonald (Angel)

reply

First of all, this is the FIRST time i ever asked for my money back. And SECOND, why should you guys care? Why are you so offended that i did this? and THIRDLY, how am i bragging, i am just stating what happened and my opinion. If you liked the movie, good for you. I didn't really like it. The trailer looked OK, i thought i might be entertained, but i wasn't. I paid my money to see this movie, i didn't like it and if the movie theater agrees to give my money back to me, why do you guys care? and yes it was an AMC.

reply

First time or one thousandth time, it is not acceptable to retrieve or even ASK for a refund because you don't like a movie. Doing so is totally lame and I best describe anybody that does such as a "LOSER."

What if you you go to a concert and your favorite band isn't any good live? Is it OK to ask for a refund? NO!

What if you go to a sporting event and the first period or quarter comes to an end and your team is losing? Is it OK to get your money back? NO!

Just because you don't like an entertainment choice doesn't mean it is OK to get a refund. You made the choice to go see it. If you want to get up and leave, leave. but don't be a loser and ask for your money back. Honestly, only losers do that. Get over it and make a better choice for yourself next time!

reply

[deleted]

If there is something seriously wrong with the food, like the chicken isn't cooked all the way through, then you ask for a refund at the restaurant. You don't ask for a refund just because the taste did not please you.

I would compare it to if you got a seat where you can't really see the picture, or if the seat is all wet or dirty. If you don't like the movie, just suck it up and go away.

If you didn't expect people to care why would you post it? Attention? Validation?

reply

dude don't just say this movie sucks or something like that thats what idiots do!
just say why you hate the movie and why you walkt out so people know why the movie suckt in your opinion and thats what it is its not a fact that a movie sucks especialy not this movie it had a pretty good box office ;) btw just wanna say i think this movie is awesome if you love zack's humor and movies like the hangover and old skool your gonna love this ;)

reply

I downloaded this and tried to watch it, but was unsuccessful. I think I made it through 30 min as well....just so poorly done. What a terrible script and even RDJ could not save it.

reply

You are totally right man, this movie sucked big time, in my opinion. I just saw it and I did not laugh once. Maybe it's just not my kind of humour though. I respect people who liked it, and I'm glad they did and they found their money well spent. I did not. Well, I guess it happens sometimes. I couldn't ask for a refund as I was with 3 other people who actually enjoyed it.

Hey genius, it is an R rated movie. R rated movies may contain scenes that are offensive to some people. This should be understood and agreed upon before going to see an R rated movie.

reply

It was rated R??? Really?
Since I saw this in another country I didn't know what the rating was and saw it anyway.
My first R rated movie, nice. I usually just watch animated stuff xP

That part should have landed on the cutting room floor!

reply

Someone who watches 'Dance Moms' should never complain about a movie.

Ever.

Worst display of child exploitation I've seen on TV.
And Due Date was offensive to you? LOL!!!!

Not very original, but 'We accept the love we think we deserve.' Brilliant.

reply

You're a *beep* self-righteous idiot Cali. A steak is food, you're paying for a perishable item that can be used up in minutes. Here you pay money to sit in a theater and watch a movie that is meant to entertain you, one that you chose to see based on advertisement trickery. No one should sit for 2 hours watching a *beep* movie, and hence a refund is entirely appropriate.

reply

^^ Hahahaha at you alex. Waaa waaaa waaaaaa. You are an elitist prick. You think you deserve everything and everyone should bend over backwards to meet all of your needs and requirements. You are a joke. Goodbye.

reply

Some trailers are misleading, that's why I now use IMDb and similar sites because the trailers are all PG and show some funny bits and you end up going and it's a 180 from the advertised film (Good Luck Chuck comes to mind). So I don't mind people asking for refunds and usually they go and get a ticket for another movie, I worked at a movie theatre and this happened a lot.

"It does not say RSVP on the Statue of Liberty."

reply

Getting a steak is totally different than this. If I go to a restaurant that is completely busy and I order a medium rare steak I won't be that upset if they cooked it wrong, but if I go to a restaurant that is completely empty and end up with an overly well done steak instead of a medium rare steak I have the right to be a little upset. Normally I just eat it anyways because I would feel bad to ask for a refund but sometimes, depending on who I'm with they will mention it. A movie is a movie. You pay to see it and you shouldn't get a refund. If a restaurant totally botches up you're order I think you should get something in return.

reply

If you can't afford to lose money going to the movies, then... don't go to the movies.

It's as absurd as playing roulette and then complaining about losing your money because you didn't have much to spare to begin with... If that's the case, then you shouldn't be gambling in the casino at all.

reply

Wow. I actually walked out early too. Its getting old watching this garbage. Movies made pre-90s were so great. No one EVER walked out of the theatre. But today its the same ole. Until they bring back real stories, real actors, and something unique that separates every movie, I encourage people to walk out. A real message needs to be sent to Hollywood to get them to get their *beep* straight. We have a major problem with both movies and music these days. Pure garbage.

reply

Yeah, totally man! Every pre-90's movie was fantastic, and right now, there are ABSOLUTELY no good movies!

Jesus, dude. Seriously? There were godawful movies in the 80's, there are godawful movies now. I hope those nostalgia glasses are working out well for you.

reply

Okay, what? Really? "A real message needs to be sent to Hollywood to get them to get their *beep* straight."

...Last time I checked, they were providing you a means of entertainment. Providing. To you. Entertainment. Where in that do you get self-entitlement? Hollywood is DOING YOU A SERVICE by making movies as a means for you to ENTERTAIN YOURSELF because you can't do it yourself. Prick much?

P.S. There's this thing called The Thirty-Six Dramatic Situations. Check it out. While you're doing that, get the self-righteous stick out of your ass and realize that hey, Hollywood doesn't have to cater to YOUR standards. God forbid, cooljoebay2 doesn't like Due Date! Hollywood isn't doing their job! Let's boycott!

Also, asking for your money back is being a douche. Period. You invested in the show knowing (or at least, people with brains know) that you may or may not like a film. I hated The Happening. Did I walk out? No. I gave it a chance, and at the end I realized I really didn't like it. By buying a ticket, you take that chance. Sorry so many people don't understand how this works, though it's really quite simple. When you buy the ticket, you are funding the theater to put more films out for you to see - so by asking for your money back, you're telling the theater they're not worth it. It's like tipping poorly when the food tastes like *beep* yet your waitress did a fantastic job. They're two separate things.

My biggest concern, over the quality of films coming out of Hollywood, is the massive number of braindead parents, and people in general, who don't research a film before they go see it - especially if it's rated R. I didn't like the masterbation scene either, but I was prepared for scenes like that to be in the film because I read up on the film beforehand. God forbid. What a concept!

reply

I agree with CaliDan. Jesus Christ, so you didn't like the movie. That's fine because EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion, but WHO ARE YOU to think you deserve a refund? And more so, after 30 minutes? Do you go out to eat and finish 1/3rd of your meal then ask to speak with the kitchen manager regarding some type of financial compensation since the meal wasn't to your liking? This country is just getting more and more disgusting. Everyone swearing the world owes them. In the future, just stay home. Not just for movies, but for any recreational trips you decide to take.

reply

[deleted]

The movie was lame, but your points are bang-on.

Too many internet losers here, thinking it's 'cool' to walk-out on a movie.

reply

I normally hate people who say "I only saw the first 30 minutes and walked out..." 'cause most of the time it gets better, but I was actually going to stop this movie after the first 30 minutes, but I decided to give it a chance, thinking it might get better... it didn't.

I didn't like it, didn't laugh once, thought the humor was sick, and not in a good way, just... didn't like it. Still, I'm returning it to blockbuster tomorrow and not asking for a refund. Renting movies or going to the movies is a gamble. In this case, I lost 2 hours of my life, and about a dollar.

the masturbating scene worths walking out and asks for a refund. But this is an average funny movie and some laughable parts.

reply

Are you an idiot? When your microwave is a piece of crap, you bring it back for a *beep* refund and get a better *beep* microwave. Same thing goes for movies, you can't know upfront if something is going to be crap, if you expect a good movie, and you hate it, why pay for it?

If someone has seen the movie, buys the dvd, and THEN brings it back complaining that it sucked, THEN you can call them losers, because they knew it was crap when they bought it.

For instance, say you see an awesome trailer, you buy a ticket to the movie, and the movie is just 1 and a half hour of some guy showing you his ass goatse style,
you would want your money back because you didn't pay to go see that crap.

Here in Holland pretty much every store had a "niet goed, geld terug" policy, which transalates to "not good, money back". This is necessary because it protects the public from companies selling pieces of crap while screaming "NO REFUNDS!".

The public expects and demands a level of quality for movies we pay to see in theaters. If they fail to deliver that quality, we should not be expected to pay up anyway.

If everyone thought like you there would be no reason to try and create the best possible product, there would be no *beep* need if noone were to trade their *beep* in for a better alternative.

*beep* self-righteous piece of *beep*

The first 20-30 minutes of this movie wasn't very funny, in my opinion. I can speak for the rest of the packed theater as well considering there were very few, scattered laughs in that period of time. The movie did eventually pick up, and I can see why someone would leave after the first 30 minutes of the movie, since it was just not doing it for them. It makes a lot of sense, and saying the first act doesn't matter is preposterous, considering it sets up the tone of the movie and is supposed to get your attention and make you interested, or in this case laugh. I think it is fine that they asked for their money back, because ticket prices simply aren't cheap. On the other hand, people who go to the movies with no intention of liking it and ultimately don't like it, who ask for their money back do need to stop cheating the system. Not that I'm saying that person above was one of them.

Overall, I thought it was a 6.5/10.

reply

I always see trailers first, but since when do trailers tell you anything? It's not like they tell you in the trailer "This movie is gonna SUCK!!!!!!!".
Sure, mostly you can pick the horrible ones out pretty easilly but I've seen great movies with horrible trailers and vice versa.

I mean, did the trailer for transformers 2 tell you that it was just 8 hours of dick jokes, racist characters and one WAY to drawn out battle in a dessert between random grey characters?

reply

That's all well and good, but I cannot tell you how many times I've gone to see a movie based on the trailer only to be disappointed.

Trailers lie!

reply

If you don't like a movie, you don't like a movie. To ask for your money back because you had a negative opinion on a movie that you paid to see is ignorant and childish. Do you think everyone that goes and sees a movie at a theatre ends up liking the movie? What makes you so special that you only have to pay for it if you think it's great 30 minutes in?

theatre- Buried 9.5/10
dvd- It's a Wonderful Life 8.5/10

reply

No, what would be ignorant and childish would be watching the WHOLE movie and then saying that i hated the movie and wanted my money back. That would be ignorant and childish, but how is watching 30 min of the movie and getting my money back ignorant and childish?

reply

Because the theatre is providing a service. You paid to enter the theatre and watch the film. If you don't like the movie you chose to pay to see, then leave. It's your choice of how you spend/risk your time and money Regardless of how much you were enjoying it, they don't need to give you the money you chose to pay them because you didn't like it the first thrity minutes.

theatre- Due Date 8/10
dvd- It's a Wonderful Life 8.5/10

reply

Yeah, and if they do not uphold their end of the bargain, you should ask for your money back. Imagine you hire a limo for prom or whatever, they show you pictures of what you are hiring, and when you come to pick it up, it has no engine in it, you'd want your money back. It protects people from being taken advantage of.

Btw, the theater hardly makes any money from tickets anyway. They make it from the produce they sell, and you don't get your money back for that (unless the popcorn is old, or the cola dead, then you DO get your money back, AND YOU SHOULD).

I don't pay for a taxi that doesn't deliver me to the right adress.
I don't pay for a microwave that breaks down half the time.
I don't pay for fries that have been burned to a crisp.
And I don't pay for a movie that is not entertaining.

If the movie sucks, the creators have not upheld their end of the deal, they promise to entertain me and in return I give them my money, if they don't entertain, I don't pay.
That is how you ensure product quality.

People like you sicken me, you are the reason companies think they can just take advantage of the public, you should be ashamed of yourself.

reply

That would just be more so. If you didn't like if you should have suck it up and finished it anyways or leave and take a loss. That's like buying a lottery ticket, losing and wanting money back. It's just wrong.

Thank you Doc Blue. I agree 100%. People these days just think they are entitled to anything and everything. Dramatic bunch of people I say. Like I said before, the movie didn't force you to see it. But I seriously laugh at people like you who after 20 minutes go "hmmppphhhhh!" get up and walk out of the theater then walk up to the ticket counter and say "yea I just paid for that movie and it's not funny or what I expected so I demand a refund" blah blah.

Blah blah back atcha! I bailed at the 30 minute mark of Due Date as I thought it was unfunny & poorly acted (up to that point). No refund requested though. I expected/paid for a comedy & found punching & threatening that boy abusive, cruel & unfunny. I thought "..and this guy is rushing home to be with/comfort his wife & welcome his baby boy"? I've found Zach a hit or miss phenom(web series, very unfunny imo) I did not laugh once in that 1st 1/2 hr(and I'm easily entertained), and few in the audience did either in the time I was watching.

Only one other time in my movie viewing life, have I requested a refund after bailing (year 2001) & that was initiated by my companion around the 25-30 minute mark and I went along with his idea. Am I dramatic and suffering from a sense of entitlement? Hardly. Maybe I should have stuck it out & waited for it to get better... But who cares really what I or others do when nobody's affected by it, ie some LA exec or producer...

reply

Apparently you have a handicapped understanding for the need of a refund policy. People don't want to pay money for *beep* And if a movie is unbearable in the first 20 minutes why would anyone who isn't a complete dumbass make themselves sit through the entire thing?

reply

a refund. really. I agree with one the drama queen comments...

here's a group of people who spent thousands of dollars and two or three months of their lives... some of the more time...all for YOUR entertainment, and you can't spend 6 or 9 bucks and sit through an hour and half of your afternoon?

boo hoo for you you demand your money back and you get home and tell everyone how you didn't like it and had to walk out on it... drama!

incidentally... I did have to walk out of Scott Pilgrum...but I saw 75% of it, and I didn't try and get my money back...(Left because 1: didn't really like it. 2: was longer than I thought and I had to get going... )

reply

Oh, I wish I had read your note before I went. What a waste of 10.00 and an evening at the movies. I am a reviewer so now I have to review it. What a drag. I tried to walk out but didn't.

reply

If you are going to base your decision to see a movie or not on someone's "review" who has only seen 20 minutes of the movie then you aren't the smartest person I know. Not even close.

reply

Well personally I was a little dissapointed.I thought it was going to be a little better. It was funny in some parts, slow in some parts, and too dramatic for a comedy in some parts but I kind of felt like the writer really wanted us to feel sorry for Zach G's character as opposed to simply grasping his comedic side.Overall though not a bad movie.Pretty good.B-grade for me but certainly have seen much worse and in no way wanted to walk out at any point.
