What I think would have been a better plot

The movie was ok, and I liked it enough. Here’s what I wanted to happen:

David becomes obsessed with Andy and sees him as his best friend. One day David is out at a movie rental store and happens to see Andy, maybe out with his girlfriend or wife or something. Keep in mind Andy is just a normal person who was paid a fee to “put on” the Andy character for Rent-A-Pal. But outside of that film he’s still just a normal regular every day person.

David sees him and in David’s warped mind he approaches Andy and assumes they will just be best friends. But Andy is off put by David approaching him in public and wants nothing to do with him.

This sets David off and begins stalking Andy everywhere he goes thinking they were meant to be best friends or something like that.
