Missing the point

ok 1st off none of the anime's plot focused around the major's past or her real identity, and it was mostly meant to be a secret besides the fact she's japanese and such

2nd why the *beep* are there holograms on buildings

3rd it wasn't some evil mega coporation that transformed motoko into some robocop,
motoko had to be repaired, and she chose to be a cop

4th, what's with all this geisha buddhist monk imagery, do they serve any meaning

and finally, the original movie had politics and themes of humanity.
This movie will probably lack the world-building and focus on overused themes of amnesia and who am I? and they stole you life like we've seen in a bunch of superhero movies. motoko ain't a superhero.

reply

Yep there's gonna be amnesia tropes aplenty

A nonsensical and forced Blade Runner reference from the director of this whitewash crap, Rupert Sanders.

It certainly highlights how the makers of this racist trash like Asian things but not Asian people themselves hence the whitewashing.

This "identity" storyline is most likely an invention entirely designed to justify the whitewash casting of Scarlett Johansson as nonwhite character Kusanagi Motoko. In other words, they will probably disgustingly claim that this whitewashed version of the "Major" was before Japanese but then became a white woman.

If that is so, this will make Ghost in the Shell 2017 not only a racist whitewash that no one should support but also one of the most racist films in the history of film. 

I talk about it in detail here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1219827/board/thread/265607946

This movie is pretty disgusting and I do hope it flops :)

You got what you asked for!

They copy iconic scenes from the movie almost shot for shot... and then ignore what the story was all about.

Hollywood as usual; all style, no substance.
