Why rated so low?

I don't understand why Brave has such a low rating. It was a good story, animated and acted well. Why do you think it isn't rated higher?

Is it because this is a Pixar film and people expect more from Pixar? Or could the fact Disney has their stamp on it have put people off?

To be honest, I don't think it's up to Pixars such as the Incredibles or Monsters Inc. But Brave deserves 8+ surely.

It may be low for a Pixar movie, but I think the score is about right.

A number of reasons really. For one trolls spend all day and night rating movies with multiple profiles they dislike but I think you will find this recent article about IMDB to be quite enlightening

Throughout its near one hundred years, Disney has created several memorable characters from films, cartoons, comics and others. Films that you hear a quote and immediately start spouting off other parts of it. Many amazing and endearing films that have been produced over the years.

Brave, is not one of them and a good part of that, if not the major reason its decried is because of its *ahem* protagionist Merida.

Merida let's face it, remove the v and e from Brave and replace it with a t and you sum up her character. She's a brat plain and simple although they attempted to portray her as an empowering character and role model when she's anything but. Here's someone who's seemingly always angry and spiteful towards her parents for the most minimal of reasons and resents the fact that she's a Princess but still expects to be treated special and get her way all the time.

But what makes her the worst character is the fact that she knowingly and willingly poisons her own mother without any hesitation at all when the opportunity presents itself, almost with glee on her face when her mother consumes the poison. And then while her mother is in pain and anguish, she throws a fit during it not paying any attention at all to the pain she's in. Merida has no noticeable quirks or anything about her that makes you want to root for her, even villains like Hook, Facilier, Ursula and others had their characters, traits and depths. Merida's just one dimensional and the only noticeable thing about her is her hair.

In the end, she learned nothing, refusing to even apologize for what she's done and gets her way and we're suppose to root for her. Some said that she's better and more inspiring than characters like Snow White and Cinderella, but here's the thing. Snow White and Cinderella were ordered to do chores 24/7 but they put up with it. They didn't bitch and moan constantly about how life was being mean to them, they did the tasks they were given and endeared themselves to others because of their kind hearts and earned their Happy Endings. Merida throws a fit if she's asked for the most simple of things and she's a symbol of empowerment that everyone especially girls should look up to.

So yes, I can say without any doubt that Merida is the most unlikable and worst character that Disney has ever came up with.
