I hope that this movie doesn't hold back with supernatural elements...

Since this movie is about magic, I hope that it doesn't hold back with the supernatural elements, such as magical monsters, like demons for example.

I know that there will be both good and evil wizards casting magical spells from books of either black magic, or white magic in the story, and there will be dimension travel to various other magical dimensions, but I also want to see Doctor Strange face off against creatures like truly magical versions of popular demonic entities, not watered down versions that aren't genuinely mystical.

Mystic powers also need to be shown. Actual defy all logic, defy the laws of physics, Merlin-like altering of reality and demons like Mephisto, who seems like the Biblical devil but is left ambiguous as to whether he is really satan or not. Vampires like Dracula who can transform into a vampire bat, werewolves like Jack Russell from Werewolf By Night who is similar to Larry Talbot from the Wolfman, and even voodoo zombies like Simon William Garth from Tales Of The Zombie.

I really don't want them to cop out and just say that it's all really just some kind of "science" and some form of "technology" that is not yet revealed because the human mind isn't evolved enough to understand. Or some kind of fake sci-fi interpretation of black magic energy and white magic energy, and black magical spells and white magical spells all just being a type of manipulation of reality in an "alien" way that we can't comprehend yet because we have not yet "discovered weapons" or haven't yet "invented paraphernalia" that allows the human race to atomically convert all elemental energies into all molecular matter, and back, so it might as well just be considered to be "magic from the gods" because humans aren't there yet.

The Eye of Agamotto, the Cloak of Levitation, the Orb of Agamotto and the Book of the Vishanti are not supposed to be "high-tech devices, equipment, and instruments". They are supposed to be enchanted weapons and objects. I'm going to be really disappointed if Doctor Strange doesn't go the route of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy novels The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Swords and sorcery should be high fantasy, not "pseudo science" like that nonsense in Blade where the vampires are the result of a "virus".

The impression I get from the trailer is that the "magic" will have a more spiritual angle than is usual for the Doc.

Spirituality doesn't bother me and the Doctor Strange comic book has dealt with spirituality before with Doctor Strange's obvious religious connection to the Vishanti.

But if this movie puts way too much emphasis on that, it may be a bad thing in that if Communist China doesn't like what they see in the movie, the film may get banned over there because Communist China is an anti-theist country that hates all religions and spiritualities, forcibly promoting only worship of the State.

If that happens, Doctor Strange will be a box office bomb and that will be the death of all high fantasy movies, as this film is going to determine if it is a profitable genre in Hollywood.

With a high fantasy movie like Warcraft being a box office flop, and the upcoming movie Wonder Woman being a possible box office blockbuster but more for the sake of it being successful as a super heroine movie instead of a magic movie (which would help the general public accept Captain Marvel later), it falls on Doctor Strange to be the super hero movie that actually makes high fantasy movies profitable.

I'm hoping that Communist China doesn't destroy all hope for this serious Disney and Marvel Studios gamble because it would be a crying shame if Doctor Strange is not a box office smash and the genre of high fantasy becomes shelved indefinitely in favor of only having limited imagination in fantastical movies simply because a Communist country that has a stranglehold on the ideas of American film makers is oppressing free will by repressing fun and suppressing thinking thoughts that are "outside of the box", which translates into Hollywood producers believing that such things as mysticism in movies equates losing massive profits, and thereby causing general American audiences to look down on serious movies with high fantasy elements as nothing but being "moronic" in nature.

Suicide Squad has made over $700 million without a Chinese release. We don't need China for this to land in the black.

The director and actors are doing PR visits to Hong Kong and Shanghai, it seems fair to assume the movie will show in China.

EDIT: According to this, it opens in China on Nov. 4:

EDIT 2:

Here's the Chinese poster:

And? I know all that. I didn't need your input. I was just pointing out that a film doesn't need a Chinese release to be a hit.

And I was just pointing out that either way, it will be released in China for those who don't "know all that."

Marvel has already said that it won't be explained away with science or technology.

And the Ancient One is specifically seen saying, 'Not everything can be explained. Not everything needs to'.

Based on the 15 minute preview I just saw, they won't be holding back on the mystical element at all. We are in for some WEIRD *beep*

I saw he 15 minute preview. You, my friend, are in for a treat. Bank on it.

DonĀ“t worry. From the clips we were able to see until now and the interviews given, this movie is going to go full magic. There will be no science-talk or alien technology, it will rather praise the magic that surounds us and how sorceres can use it.
Just look at the trailer. Dr Strange states that magic makes no sense, and The Ancient One answers "Not everything does. Not everything has to."

It covered it all in his training. The energy elements to magic were fascinating.

I'm glad it didn't. Brings something new to the MCU.
