I wonder what did people think of Keira knightleys American accent for Caroline.
shareis it weird though that in the original (Hunt for Red October) they used Gates McFadden who used a British accent.. then they switch to Anne Archer for the next 2 and play her as American. now they cast a Brit to play American? are they just trying to make our heads explode???
I didn't recognize her at first and I figured she was an American actress.

She did OK overall, but there were several spots she screwed up majorly in. Most obvious was when she first got to Moscow and was sitting on the bed. Accent slipped like 5x in a span of a minute.
shareI didn't notice that I did think that one of her lines sounded a bit like a teenager but apart from that she sounded American to me. But Iam not American so I might not be able to pick it up as much as an American can. I do tend to look at it like can you notice the difference when you have an American on with a non American If you can't pick the difference then the non American did a good job. Like for example hugh jackman I can always tell I think it comes down to his thick Aussie accent you can hear some of the words sounding un natural.

shareJust saw the movie. I found her accent very distracting. It sounded like she was trying too hard and sometimes it made her sound monotone. Nothing against Keira but she should definitely stick to British roles

It was terrible. American colloquialisms (such as saying "yeah" for "yes")just sounded extremely false which is weird because I've heard her pull off a solid American accent in other movies but here, it just fell very flat.
shareLove Kiera but, her accent wasn't very good. It would go in and out from American to British which was extremely distracting. She just needs more practice.
