just realized what the title means

Naru wanted to be a hunter, like her brother, who specifically hunts dangerous predators.

In the first two films, the Yautja was the only true hunter, and thus the "predator" in the title.

In "Predators," it was clear that the Oomans were specifically chosen for their killer instinct, meaning the Yauja and Oomans were all predators, though not all hunting

But this film is about Naru and Taabe hunting the Yautja while it hunts them.

So the humans and the alien are all "prey" in this film.

I just didn't buy into this premise.. The Best PREDATOR movie is listed accordingly:

1) The 1st PREDATOR without a doubt because without that, we wouldn't have had the other films in the series

2) PREDATORS: I enjoyed the concept of a planet that was used for hunting purposes for the PREDATORS, plus, the opening scene with Adrain Brody free falling and can't open his parachute until he hits the ground and you see the title card was pretty good too..

3) PREDATOR II: A very underrated PREDATOR movie that just happens to be the most violent of the PREDATOR movies.. Hard to believe the reason Arnold didn't return for this was over a mere $250,000, plus, according to Arnold, his character of Dutch wouldn't have appeared until the very end of the movie as a 10 second scene..

4) PREY: It was a story that was a radical departure from what we're accustomed to seeing and it was different, just not my kind of movie..

5) The PREDATOR: Absolutely Godawful in every way, shape & form, right down to the cast and the PREDATOR itself..

Understanding the premise isn’t for everyone, I actually did like it and after reading some background, the notion of the alien yautja as the “prey” makes more sense

In previous movies (ignoring AvP and Shane Black’s abominatiion), the yautja were predators

Here, the yautja is “unblooded” which apparently means he’s not a seasoned hunter. He’s also unclear on what species he’s after, bear, dog or “oomans”

Added to which, he’s the one being hunted throughout the film, not just by Naru and Taabe but by the French trappers

Everyone’s hunting the yautja, he’s the “prey,” hence the title
