The twisted ruined it (spoilers)

I understand the decision to proceed with this twist: they didn’t want to simply repeat the original storyline about a victimized family. But this twist was just so farfetched, with a psycho mother and psycho son (somehow the husband, after all those years living with him, is ignorant about who his wife and son are?). Some of the lines by evil Julia Stiles and her son were cringy

I thought the detective scenes were great, especially the fingerprint reveal. I think they could’ve done a film focused on the detective’s investigating Esther.

Of course the husband wouldn't know who the wife and son were, afterall in his mind Esther (the real one) had disappeared and the mother and son obviouslly did their best to keep that story sustained, they were so good at this that Leena didn't even know about the fat of the real Esther until Tricia explained it to her so it was a mix of fantastic fabrication and lying on the part of Tricia and Gunnar.

I agree 100%. I found a lot about this movie to be cringe worthy, including how old Esther looked. She looked like a teenager to me and I couldn't get past it.
