The Ending Is A Trainwreck, How Did Anybody Like It?

The film was a great suspense film. I loved it.

It was nearly perfect the way it ended with her seeing the birds and removing her mask, taking in a deep breath. It really was compelling. And then she sees the UFO in the sky, and the weird dog creature.

At that point you're just watching an entirely different film and in the worst way possible I was asking myself WTF?

From that point on it played out like the directors 10 year old son thought it would be really super NEATO! to add in these crazy alien fight scenes at the end with splosions!!!!!!!

One of the most misplaced, jarring, unsophisticated endings to an otherwise good film I've ever seen.

1. so 10 minutes of an hour 45 minutes ruined the whole thing for you?

2. yaa it was a weak tie in to the "cloverfeild universe". meh. im sure her simply driving off alone and it just ending would have been "more profound" AND you would have been able to sniff your own farts while drinkingg wine and say "that is art!!!" But then people would have complained about that too

ending sucked.

i loved the film- but the ending....... WEAK

The films screenplay was originally a contained thriller titled 'the cellar'. They forced it into the Cloverfield universe as such to sell the film better, it worked I guess since it grossed $110 million on a $14 million budget.

That's why the ending is quite jarring...though to be honest I didn't mind it.

I thought it was a great twist. I didn't see it coming. I thought the old man was crazy and paranoid but he was right all along.

I agree, the ending was a trainwreck, the original script wasnt suppose to be a cloverfield movie....JJ Abrams and his sexual fantasy about aliens and their invasions turn a good suspense thriller into a mediocre alien fetisch bs
