so why is Micah such a dumbass?

He is basically the cause of all the problems. He makes it get worse. And he acts like a moron, keeps saying he has a plan. But nothing he does actually does anything. He's just trying stupid stuff like making footprints appear and yelling at it. Yea.... that helps Micah. It really helps...... And then at the end he has a chance to get them out of the house, but he doesn't do it just because his oh so obviously possessed girlfriend says she doesn't want to. Instead of forcing her to go and saving their lives, he stays like a dumbass and gets what he deserves. What a pathetic boyfriend.

To me it was the bitch who was the annoying and ungrateful sob. Guy just tried to help his girlfriend and he just gets grunts and shouts as response. I would have left the girl. Not worth saving.

wtf? How was Micah trying to help Katie in any way? He spent the whole movie ignoring all the advice they were given and brushing off Katie's fears as no big deal. Every time she asked him to stop doing something, he'd go and do it anyway. He was an idiot.

Micah ruined the film for me. In all the films I've seen that involved demons..Never have I seen someone be so incredibly stupid like Micah. Then again it's not like films have their characters kick the demon's ass or can tell them to screw off like Constatine,Evil Dead's Ash,or other protagonists who have put the demons in their place

What bothered me most was that he was just an obnoxious ass throughout the film. There was absolutely no reason for why they shouldn't have called the demonologist other then he didn't want too. If a demon's in your house then yes obviously it's the smart thing to do contact someone who would know how to help. I did notice though that they didn't do the usual thing in supernatural films where the call in a priest/religious individual in to do the whole God is more powerful then demons bit,however after seeing this film I'm not going to waste my time with its sequels. Insidious is better then this crap

Watching it right now. I've seen it several times. He definitely does not help the problem and comes across as a huge dumbass. In fact it's so over the top at times it's unbearable. The dude is was written as an over the top dumbass. No other way to put it.

If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, nobody else wanted them either.

The moment he brought the Ouija board into the house he became the dumbest character EVER

I agree, he did this despite EXPLICIT warning from the expert that it would basically amount to an invitation to the entity

agreed. Katie had supposedly been harrassed on and off by the demon when she was 8, then 13, then intermittently. Yet in just 2 or so weeks with Micah's efforts, the situation got worse and worse to the point of no return.

Because he's a cocky guy who has been successful in many things and he feels "This is my house". He has a bit of the D-Lo Brown in him. (Wrestling fans may get the reference).
