Worst remake I have ever seen.

Seriously, there is so much wrong with this as a remake that if somebody tells me it was a good movie(and they have seen the original) I know they do not really know anything about stories for the screen. Normally, I can see how someone might like a film when I hated it, but this was just such a train wreck that the only excuse is if someone isn't familiar with the original.

I get that the original was written so that Freddy was a molester, but sometimes the original idea just isn't that great for film. The fact that it was too "out there" for the film at the time was probably the best thing for the original film. It just didn't make sense with the psychology of molesters vs killers.

Then there's the character Freddy. Jackie Earl Haley looked like an alien and he didn't make a good Freddy. Freddy Krueger is a character that already has a persona that is Robert Englund. It's not a character you can recast unless you get a carbon copy.

Finally there was nothing about this film that was Freddy Krueger. This character has a trademark that is his wittiness, and yet he said absolutely nothing during the film that was witty. That alone renders the entire thing bad. I mean the wittiness IS Freddy, if you take the out then you messed the entire film up. The screenwriters, Michael Bay, and the director truly made a terrible remake that any true Nightmare fan would disown as a Nightmare film.

And why are you telling us this dumbass and wasting your time

reply

That's my review especially for your moronic ass. LOL it was worth the 2 minutes for silly idiots like yourself to know why it was so terrible. You seem to be missing part of your brain lmao

reply

What ever you say 80s boy

reply

Freddy Krueger lost his sense of charm in this remake.

The original one was way better, i loved the way he kills his victims in a crude way!

I agree with your post along with the original poster too. This
remake of Elm Street was an abomination which was completely
stupid, pointless and very unnecessary too! Also did not care
for how Freddie was written to be overly serious and lacked
all of the charm and black humor of the original characterization.
Really detested this film overall and such a waste of time!

So anyone that likes something you don't is missing part of their brain? You don't get the whole different people having different tastes ehh? Happens alot with little boys who don't have the maturity to understand the world doesn't revolve around them....

reply

ooh the irony...

reply

Couldnt agree more! Change change a winning recipe? Robert Englund is and will ALWAYS be Freddy. I was 8 when I first saw the original, and it's the only movie I have never forgotten and never will. My first horror movie! I don't understand why they makre re-makes. It's always a fail.

reply

Worst remake and one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Reggie you seems to miss the point of the imdb message boards, its for people to both discuss movies, and find out if a movie is worth watching or avoiding. They have more of a right to be here than you do with your pointless post that don't even make sense (grammatically also): "You guys are just mad cause the reboot made alot of money than the original..." I highly doubt any fans give a *beep* how much money a movie made, let alone enough to write bad reviews of it. You're just a fan trying way too hard to defend it by insulting people who don't share your opinion rather than write an argument using facts and examples of why the remake is superior.

reply

Jared....so basically your feeling is your opinion should be heard on imdb, but anyone with an opinion that conflicts with yours has no right to be here because their opinions are pointless? How about you pull that broom stick out of your ass and realize that that world does not in fact revolve around you.

You need to see more remakes then, this was actually a pretty decent remake.

reply

Agreed! I actually enjoyed this remake and don't think it's as bas as people make it out to be. There are many worse remakes out there!

'You people. If there isn't a movie about it, it's not worth knowing, is it?'

At least Freddy is not the caricature that he was in the last few sequels, which were WAY worse.

Well, I think this and the Friday the 13th remakes are the worst... along with Texas Chainsaw (2006 version, 2003 was ok).

I hated the idea of a molester Freddy. He just seems like a depraved pervert now, not a killer.
Plus, this movie relied on jump scares to be "scary", which mean, obviously, it sucks.

reply

Texas was easily one of the best horror remakes. Friday was also excellent. What would you want out of a remake?
