Clues to the unanswered questions?

One reviewer says:

“The film leaves many of its questions dangling — a second viewing might clear up some of them, such as what’s happened to Rahim’s first wife and where these corrupting coins really came from in the first place, and indeed, where they’ve now gone. But that seems to be the point. You might think the put-upon little Saivash could hold the key, unable to utter the answer in a world of one person’s word against another’s.”

Has anyone figured out these unanswered questions? I couldn’t!

Son : Why did Ms Zareh give you the coins ?
Dad : To get me out of prison
The answer lies in those lines.

reply

Do you mean that Ms Zareh stole the coins? Or that she sent that lady to claim them? How would these work?

reply

It could be either. This plot device was kept in the back burner as the film focused on the "hero" making amends with his creditor.

reply

Rahim's first wife got married again with other man.

reply

And?

reply

That's what happen to Rahim's first wife.

reply

Yes, they mention that she wants to get married but we don’t hear more about it

reply

She's not an important character in the story.

reply

Yes, I agree. But the reviewer seems to think that she is the key or a major clue to figure the story out

reply

I think it may have to do with a political intepretation of the story. Every Farhadi movie typically got one.

So Rahim is the UK, that has £400m debt it keeps delaying / unwilling to pay to Iran, which in turn is the creditor, Bahram. And the first wife would be the EU, you know, Brexit and all. Farkhondeh is probably Saudi Arabia, an ally of the UK in the Middle East but I'm not sure about that.

reply

None of these two questions are really important.
