a question

how did the girlfriend survive the attack by the two assassins?

reply

that's actually a good question. one of them a giant dude, the other an "expert". maybe he didn't get the point of her bear joke.

as in, if they both missed their target, maybe it wasn't coincidence

reply

What I took away was, they weren't assigned to kill her, just beat her up and do "other indescribable things", and leave her alive to suffer and have Fassbender witness the ramifications of his failure.

reply

She fought back and escaped. The Brute assassin was beating her to a pulp, most likely having every intention of killing her or worse, before she stabbed him in the leg with a knife and then jumped out a plate glass window and sprinted into the jungle and hid, at least that was how her brother described her escape to the protagonist.

reply

Their goal was to find out where he is, not kill her.

reply

being the professional that he was, i would assume the girlfriend would not have known where he was. the assassins should have known that as well.

reply

So why ask if they knew? The first thing the girlfriend told him in the hospital was: I didn't tell them anything. Plus Tilda admitted they "questioned" her to get info. If they wanted her dead, she would have been dead.

reply

Incorrect, the Brute was going to kill her, and possibly worse, the only reason he did not was because she stabbed him in the leg with a knife and then jumped out a plate glass window and ran into the jungle.
The Expert said as much, paraphrasing, “I would not have involved your friend…., He (The Brute) was, well you’ve seen for yourself how receptive…”
He had every intention of killing her but she had top tier survival instincts.
