Offensive movie to Muslims

Anyone else found this movie to be offensive for Muslims?

While I enjoyed the horror-aspect of this movie, I gave it a 1 rating because I think they should have removed the parts about Muslims, because in my opinion they are offending 25% of the earth's population.

reply

yeah, but Muslims get offended by everything. If we censored everything that offends them, we wouldn't have anything funny, sexy, beautiful or entertaining (same goes for Christians, Jews, Jehovah Witnesses, Scientologists, and pro-lifers).
Seriously, if you believe in censorship, don't you dare call yourself a movie-lover. The two do not go hand in hand.

Anybody offended by Moslems taking offense to everything in Western culture?

Why does the world revolve around Islam, what offends Islam and the tender hypocritical sensibilities of followers of "the religion of peace" ? (Ironically, isn't Islam involved on some level in 47 of the 49 conflicts currently being fought around the world? "Peace," baby.)

Why do the sensibilities of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jews, Bahaists, Confucians, Jainists or Shintoists all take a back seat to Islam?

Actually, Islam is 21 percent of the world's population. Christianity is 2.1 billion people equalling 33 percent! So if population base counts, shouldn't Islam defer to Christianity?

Moslems who find offense in everything -- by all means get bent.

Yes, Moslems, your faith and belief system is special and The One True Religion...just like everybody else's.

So why not attempt the same tolerance toward other faiths that you demand for your own?

I couldn't agree more with Ralph.

On another note, Muslims seem to be the most intolerant of all racial/religious classes I've ever studied. They want everyone to conform to their rights, and for the most part we DO. Why? Not because Christians or Americans believe in their religion, but it is becoming increasingly more politically INCORRECT to criticize Muslim beliefs. No matter how far fetched, abusive or ruthless these beliefs may be. We'll see what happens when Sharia Law gets upheld in American courts. Hands getting cut off for theft, women being stoned to death for refusing a marriage proposal. Then maybe people will open their eyes.

That's a cultural thing, not a religious thing. The Quran actually promotes equality, it's the culture of the countries that have twisted it into something nefarious... Just like every other religion. It's been corrupted by the people.

There's thousands of films out there that can be considered offensive to Christians. I don't see any complaints about it from you. Walk it off, suck it up and get over it.

So, you as a non-Muslim (based upon the info and phrasing in your post) are telling me that this movie is offensive to not just some, but ALL Muslims?

Besides the obvious silliness of this sentiment, it shows a very poor comprehension of the narrative. The MK ULTRA people were clearly trying to drum up racism/jingoism in the testees. Narrative elements dealing with characters who are bigots is not the same thing as a film being bigoted.
