I tried to like it...

But unlike so many on Moviechat, I actually have a working brain, and I have to admit, this is utter shite.

Problem for me was the troll was actually the most sympathetic character.

Yup, I was disappointed that the film quickly went to the generic unknown creature must immediately die.

To each their own, I guess. I really enjoyed the film. It was lighthearted and goofy most of the time. ‘It’s my pine allergy’ and ‘I retire’ got some chuckles out of me. The acting was over the top most of the time which gave it just enough cheesiness to keep a smile on my face throughout.

If you were trying to take this film seriously, I think you would definitely be disappointed. But the clash between science and folklore, and the sheer stupidity of the government officials was something I enjoyed. That’s not even addressing the effects. They clearly used a lot of fireworks and miniatures for explosions.

Is this a good movie? Nah, I don’t think so. Is this a movie I would watch again for a good laugh and a fun ride, sure.

As a side note, I’m not sure it’s really the best idea to insult you peers in your post. This forum is actually full of negative comments towards this movie, so I don’t understand the initial hostility to both it and other posters like myself who did enjoy it.

Anyway, I hope that this lets you see that some people can like this kind of movie for different reasons. Hopefully you can find something more fun/ interesting for your next watch!
